Forget the hardware (that will take care of itself). I want the next gen windows phone to have robust developer support, and not the half a** approach of the past. No dev support means dead platform regardless of how fancy the hardware is

an updated lumia 930 would be great for me.

Premium look and add sd support, maybe dual sim variant, updated cpu/ram/storage to todays latest, removable battery, better cooling process, glance screen, pureview camera standard and any new features new phones have, usb type etc

What does your DREAM Windows Phone look like? Size, battery life, specs, etc... if you could grab any manufacturer and tell them 'make this', what would you tell them to do?? :)

One that has been taken round the back of the shed and put out of its misery.

Microsoft need to man up, admit the hard truths and stop decieving users, until then, trust is gone.

The Lumia 1520 same specs (yes, yes just 1080p display that looks awesome even on 6'' and does wonders for the battery) maybe with slightly updated cpu, type-c would be a plus mostly for the charging part, oled screen should be a requirement on every wphone ever created, maybe front stereo speakers or fingerprint scanner but most importantly and only reason I had to get a new one, no ghost touch issues! This is the one and only fundamental flaw and structural defect of this device.
Same gorgeous phone.
Hell I'd even chose the capacitive buttons over less screen viewport every day of the week and twice on Sunday.
I don't care at all for gimmicks like foldable phones, pens, keyboards, aluminum/glass materials and 4k displays.
And no the HP is nowhere near Lumia's beauty.
And my mozo-ed 950xl is a sad excuse of a phone next to my now broken 1520.
I'd kickstart the **** out of a rerelease of the best windows phone ever made.
That's all I ever wanted and I'll never love another phone the same way.
Dream device u say? I almost had it and it could last forever if not faulty by design.
Noone in the history of mankind ever loved, loves and will love this or any other piece of hardware more than me.

I love windows phone, whatever they say. I just love how it is like a mini-PC on your pocket. I remember having a Lumia 640XL, it is great phone! Just loving it simply because it acts like your mini pc wherever i go. And the best thing about windows phone, i can plug it on my pc and view the cleanest file explorer, and transfer files just like as USB did. Iphone can't do that. Android phones can, but the file system they've got is a mess allover.

I want the next windows phone to be compact, have big screens, not a metallic one but can have some metals around, running c-shell. It can have a usb type C for future proofing, but what i don't like about usb type C is that, the ports of my dad's iphone are loose because of that. whenever he charges his phone, it disrupts whenever someone just move near it.

Aside from i said above, i want the next windows phone to have a budget friendly version and an enterprise/business phone. no more midranger. just two editions. the midrange will be filled by the OEMs.

Iris Scanner for budget phones can be a big welcome. :D

Mine isn't a phone at all.
It's a PC/Tablet that can take my calls.

Basically a 7-inch Surface Pro. Same spec tiers, LTE, Telephony, Surface Pen, $799 starting.
I'll take the $1299 256gb 8gb tier. Please and thank you.

My dream phone is something Satya would be proud to carry, and one which Microsoft would be proud to support and grow for the long haul.

A camera worthy as a followup to the Lumia 1020

The rest of the specs will just be in line with other flagships. Sorry, dual lens cameras just aren't doing it for me.

I'll make it easy. Just take a Samsung s8 or Huawei p10 (or any other flagship device you like(I like p10)) and put windows 10 on it (with c-shell), tweak the hardware to make it truly compatible with windows and... Voila!

I would start with a top of the line Qualcom processor but then work with AMD to modify it with a more powerful GPU and memory bus. I would then fit it with 8gb of fast Ram and at least 32 gb of fast pci bus memory with options to have up to 1tb. I would have 2x USB Type C connectors (one on top and one on bottom) that would support both USB 3.1 and thunderbolt. I would allow expansion by micro Sd cards. The screen would be a 6" 18/9 1440/2880 resolution screen running at 90hz with support for freesync. Underneath the screen would be a fingerprint reader. the bezels would be minimal but flat, with only a small chin and forehead with enough room to house dual camera sensors and forward facing speakers. The back would have at least 24mpx dual 3D/AR/VR capable camera sensors directly in the center of the phone. It would have all the sensors and support all major wireless standards as well as the Xbox controller wireless standard and IR. It would support world wide network bands. It would have perfectly square corners and be completely flat on both sides (no camera hump) It wouldn't necessarily be thin, but not too thick either. I would have optional accessories such as micro Xbox controller, and 3D HMD adapter, and super portable keyboard mouse combo. It would be capable of AR like the iPhone but also mounted in HMD it would act like a Hololense. It would run Full windows on Arm and be capable of display a full Virtual desktop for on the go productivity as well as legacy Xbox games as well as new games developed to take advantage of the mobile Xbox device. I would also include Android emulation but provide a path for developers to convert them to native applications. I would market this device as both a mobile Xbox and the ultimate productivity device. The device would also pair with an actual Xbox for higher fidelity games and allow multiple users to play AR/VR experiences with One Xbox and Multiple Window Mobile devices for group reality scenarios. The same tech could be used with PCs as the hub for group reality scenarios there as well. The overall device would be waterproof but would feature a changeable back plate like the 950. The default back plate would be more premium but optional back plates such as ruggedized ones, leather ones, ones with included keyboards, ones that are game focused, etc.. would be available from MS directly. There would be a special accessory connector built in for the back shells that would extend capabilities to the shell. They could provide different input methods, tools, or larger batteries. It would also support the surface stylus. The edges of device would have no physical buttons but would be pressure and touch sensitive. To lower the volume you would just drag your finger down one side of the device. to turn it off would squeeze it in the middle. To take a picture you would squeeze it on the left or right. You should be able to program these reactions.

I personally would like a Surface Phone that had a 5.7 inch display that takes up almost all of the screen, like the Galaxy S8 or the Xiaomi Mix or the Essential Phone. The OnePlus 5's dual cameras on the back, and a fingerprint sensor below the cameras. A 3.5mm headphone jack and 2 USB-C ports. Pen support and an optimized improved version of Windows 10 Mobile. As for the specs, 6GB of RAM, 1TB of internal storage, and two microSD slots. The battery should be 3500mAh and would have a 1080p AMOLED display. 😀
