on wp8, there is no delay. All notification are spontaneous.

Even im having the same issue since the past two hours! Im having to manually open the app and only the do i recieve the pending messages whether its on wifi or mobile data! Even im on the developer preview for 8.1

I don't think so, I haven't changed my region and I still don't receive the notifications.

If you go through this thread, you will see people complaining about whatsapp notifications even before 8.1 was even a discussion.

i'm not saying whatsapp does not need an update. but come on people.. if u have problems try a reinstall/hard restart

What if nothing works. I tried everything to fix it. Did:
hard/soft resetS. reinstalled app. Checked on both Data and wifi connection. No luck.

Ps. It was working in morning (4am), but stopped again at about 10 am

Mine gave some trouble today too, as well as two other whatsapp friends in my country.

Hopefully they were just making some changes on the backend to facilitate wp8.1 because its fine now.

They usually release updates on Friday and we all know what day tmr is

I did a Hard Reset this morning. After installing all Apps including Whats App there is no improvement at all. I dont get push notifications for all my chats. This sucks so much.

My attemps on windows phone 8.1
Hard reset (Twice) ----FAILED
Downgraded to wp8 via nsu, things got perfect and i am happy with performance of every app, even WhatsApp.

Performance of WhatsApp on wp8,
Google battery performance,
Notification on time and
Stable
