White spot on screen

Hey all. So I've had my 1520 for over a month now and haven't had any issues at all up until now.

Today I adjusted my screen brightness from auto to high and within a few minutes noticed a very distinctive white mark shining through the black background on the screen. The best way I can describe this is that it almost looks like white light is "leaking" through the black background. Its a very distinctive white smudge and clearly shouldn't be there.

I guess there's a good chance that this screen abnormality has been there since day one and I've not noticed it because the screen has never been on the high brightness setting, but frankly its bugging the crud outta me knowing that its there. Now I've got the problem that my eyes keep getting dragged to the area of damaged screen, and wouldn't you know it, its now massively visible to me even with the screen brightness turned back to auto or low.

So, my questions are: what causes this sort of thing? Has anyone else had "white light leakage" issues on their 1520 and is it even worth me contacting Vodafone and getting it sorted? Could it get progressively worse as the phone ages?

Any support would be greatly appreciated.

I have a white spot on the display on a white background only. I am waiting for a replacement, I think you should go and try to get it replaced.

I'm on my third phone with the same problem in exactly the same place. About to give up... Posted this a while back...

hmmm... So this is a recurring issue. I was due taking the phone in for repair today but i guess I'll skip this if a replacement also is of no help. Guess, we gotta live with it.

Brighter white spot on white background as well with Lumia 1520. Just annoying enough to notice overtime. I'm in doubt to replace it, or deal with it and if it persists, maybe report later.
I also don't want to leave the phone for over several weeks, where I'm going on a trip in about 1.5 weeks and definitly want to take the 1520 with me.

So my 1520 also has a white spot on the screen (top left) that is only visible when looking at white and white-ish images. My recently had some other issues (random reboots, loss of cellular connection and crashing of apps that was "fixed" by a factory reset, and the annoying tap/swipe issue) so I went to the store where I bought it to get it exchanged. I pointed out the white spot and was told this was normal and expected in phones with OLED screens, and in fact if it were not for my other issues they would not be exchanging it at all. This is the first I've heard of this particluar issue with OLED screens and was wondering if this is true or not.

well Lumia 1520 does not have a OLED screen.. it has an LCD screen.. and second it cant be ignored on such a pricey premium gadget.. the bright spot is result of damage and in this case it happens to a lot of users because of some design problem - could be the vibrator as stated in a post in this http://forums.windowscentral.com/nokia-lumia-1520/258510-bright-spot-screen.html
anyways you are getting a replacement.. thats good...

Since no one said it and everyone is thinking it or some.... I might as well say it. Did you use it to watch porn?

I have a bright pixel only noticeable on light colors but when I see it its annoying. it's in the top right quadrant.

Huh, you're right, for some reason I thought it was OLED (probably because the guy at the store thought it was too and I wasn't thinking haha). I really had to fight to get them to replace it and now I feel even more sure of my position. They were out of stock for Yellow so I'm waiting for them to get more in, so hopefully tomorrow.

I have two bright white regions ... 2mm and 3.5mm egg shaped spots near the top-center-right (light leakage / non-uniform diffuser adhesion) ... I sent my phone in for repairs as it also has the very annoying touch sensitivity issue where almost 1/3 swipes/scrolls results in a false click.

Nokia just got my phone today ... so I need to check how it goes ... they say it will take up to 10 business days to get my replacement.

I went through this as well on my 32GB model from AT&T and had to fight for a non-refurb replacement. The replacement so far is good, as is my original 16GB unit that my fiancee now has. :)

I am facing the same issue with my Nokia Lumia 1520.. The performance is really great but there is a 1cm wide and round spot on the top middle of the screen and 2 small spots in the middle of the screen. Have purchased this cell phone in January 2014 in India Mumbai. I went to Nokia care and they said that the mobile will be dismantled and the parts will be replaced, which i don't want to do as i have spent 45g's on it and its only 2 months i have used it..

can anyone help me, what exactly i have to do get it replaced?. I really need help to get it exchanged...

Yikes. I feel like I'm crazy for still wanting to order the 1520 despite the laundry list of problems. I'm scared to do so though, that's for sure. Already bought a few accessories for it. Was basically just waiting for Newegg to get in new yellow 1520.3 units :-/

same issue here. returned it and now waiting to get 1520.3 version (hoping it wont have this defect)
i am surprised that such premium device have such poor quality control and built

I have the same issue in the upper left area of the phone. I can only really notice it on white images which is interesting. Any ideas on how to make it not worse? I saw an article about carrying your phone in your pocket with the camera facing inward. Not sure how much this would really help considering that now the screen is prone to being run into a table and potentially cracking but glad to hear I'm not the only user with this issue.

I had a similar issue with my old phone. I read somewhere the vibration causes it so turned off the vibration on my new phone. Now the bright spot did come but on the right side. It hasn't gotten worse since the first time I saw it. I have a case on top of it, not sure if that helps..
