Who are these writers?

I recently noticed writers on the blog post who use screen names, not their real names. Who are these people? Why don't they use their real names when they post blog articles?

It looks unprofessional to see someone called "RedNBlack77" or "Chassit" posting an article, when all of the other writers use their real names.

I've seen Chassit before and even Krystea, but RedNBlack77 is a new one. I agree with you that using your real name looks better. You can still use your screen name in the forums and keep your anonymity.

Some people just don't want the community to have their real name. I started using my real name only when I started writing for the blog. Nobody pressured me into it in fact Daniel used malatesta until he became the go to editor. It's really up to the writer. Who is to say any of them are using real names. It would be nice if they used a professional sounding name.

I guess what I'm saying is how is RedNBlack77 reliable? Where can I check his/her background and credentials? If I Google say "Paul Thurrott" or "Mary Jo Foley", I can learn their backgrounds and if I believe they are credible and believable.

On a related note, I haven't written any blogs or even considered writing. However, I had a short story published in my college literary journal back in 1991. Being published (and using my real name) was something I liked to brag about. If I were to be a writer anywhere, I'd HAVE to use my real name. I'd need to tell people, "That's my work."

Dave, you make great point about names. Writers do sometimes use pen names. However, pen names sound like something that could be a real name. "Mark Twain" wasn't a real name, but it sounded real.

I just submitted a request via PM to Dave and James to change my screen name to my real name.

Totally off topic but too lazy on a Saturday to dig up that old thread - what happened to that super secret writing project you mentioned a month ago? Any updates?

All done.

Is Techblogger now called Jazmac? I remember Techblogger having the George Jefferson avatar. I looked up Techblogger on Mod Control Panel and there are no matches. Is this the same guy who is now using a different screen name and is an Ambassador?

I always liked Techblogger, and I would've recommended him for Ambassador.

I don't know what is up with him. I think that is Techbloger he asked to join the Ambassador group I even added him to the group but later removed him. He wouldn't answer his PM's. This was all before the name change I was not involved in his name getting changed. James must have done that.

I haven't seen any Dave Blake articles on the front page in awhile.

Hmmm... I wonder why that is. No I don't.

Its a long story... End game is I already have a job it pays better. Never say never but I wouldn't hold my breath on this one.
