Why is my printer not being detected by Surface Pro 3?

Cannot get Surface Pro 3 to recognize my printer. It is a HP Officejet J3680. When I run "Add a device" from the "Change PC Settings" menu, I get a "No devices found" response. I am using a 2.0 usb cable that I am plugging into a 3.0 port. Is that a problem? Whenever I plug the cable into the 3.0 port on the computer, I get a "ding" that indicates that the computer recognizes that something has been plugged into that port.

Install the HP driver software, then plug in the printer per the directions provided by HP. Let us know if this works.
