Why is video stereo recording not supported in Windows Phone 8?

The title says it all, I don't get it.

My mother has a HTC Titan that does record video in stereo, there's even an option for it in the settings.

Did they forget to add this to Windows 8, or is there a logical explanation?

Even the Lumia 520 (i.e. the most inexpensive WP8) features 2 HAAC mics.
I don't get this either. No stereo audio recording. What are they thinking? Any word on WHEN this will be supported?

Why does it matter? With a mobile, will it actually have sort of advantage of recording in stereo? There will be negligible stereo separation, so you are looking at 2channels of the same.

With the AMBER-update stereo audio recording has been enabled on Nokia Lumia phones.

hmm it still will be dual mono unless you have 2 separate mics.
still to say, if there would be two separate mics so close, the stereo field would be too narrow...
