Windows 10 app failure, what do I do?

Windows 10 app failure

Total app failure. No start menu, store and edge icons bring up a titled window which then closes itself. Tried wsreset.exe but got error message 'the app didn't start'. Can't revert to win 7. Tried reset win 10 and that failed too. All apps were working beautifully right up to the point it failed about 4 hours ago (!). PC still works as do non-win10 apps eg MS essentials, MS Office, Google Chrome and am able to access right click functions on start menu icon. Can't report to Microsoft as feedback part of non-functioning apps. Any ideas?

Then clean install. download the mediacreationtool and do the clean install that way, you don-t need to reset the pc, it's just easier to have a computer in a good working state.

you could also try first the sfc /scannow and Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth if you want to try something before clean installing.
