That was a WP8 thing & a custom ROM thing.

No...there should he the option to change default search from Bing to google in IE settings l....all the lumia owners who flashed their phones from Nokia care have this feature

I was just about to ask what happened to that feature. I've seen on a few videos, for those that got the update off of Nokia Care, and it had that option to change Search providers.

I have Nokia Lumia 710 with WP 7.8 and I know that it is possible to set up Google as default search engine in Internet Explorer. (Settings -> Applications -> Internet Explorer) On the other hand I am not able to set it for "search button".

i had the feature on mine since 7.5 mango on htc hd7. In the internet explorer go to settings then "default search provider" mine has been on google since forever ago

Strange, I hear rumours from Lumia users that have it in their update and other Lumia users that don't have it, HTC users that have it and HTC users that don't have it. I wonder what's happening with the 7.8 update, why do some users got it and others didn't?

WP 7.8 revision 12430 has not this option, but, if you update to 12460 revision with Nokia Care Suite (ROM can be get with Navifirm Plus) or wait when this update will be available in your region, then this option is show onto IE settings. On my Lumia 800 I have this option (revision is 12460).
