Windows Phone Brand Recognition

A few months a go I was at a train station on the way back from work and there was a massive billboard for eBay. One of the things I noticed about this billboard is that it also advertised that eBay had an app available for iOS and Android...but no Windows Phone. I honestly thought it was ridiculously ludicrous. Did eBay forget they have a WP app? Or was it an oversight by a spiteful marketing employee?

Either way I forgot to take a picture and completely forgot about it until now. Why? Because a SanDisk micro SD card I ordered arrived today and familiar logo greeted me on the back:

Sure it's better for SanDisk to advertise the platform because then people are more likely to buy their product, but considering a giant like eBay couldn't care less about WP I am surprised SanDisk is kind (and clever) enough to consider us.

So from this it would be great to see more examples from my fellow forumites of WP being promoted in "ordinary" and "unusual" places:smile: and not just as product placements in soaps and movies which WP Central has a tendency to report on.

I don't have any pictures but I was thrilled to see in London that Windows Phone was on quite a few adverts in and around the tube where some apps were being advertised along the bottom of the advert where it said that there was a Windows Phone app available. I think it's going to take some time to get true brand recognition but that it's just a waiting game before the companies wise-up and advertise their WP apps, now that it's solidifying its place as the third phone OS.

Nokia Lumia billboards and ads are everywhere in Delhi (& other main cities) of India. All Nokia care centers and priority dealers look distinct from others coz of the WP branding. They look so cool in malls and other places.

Now that's what I'm talking about:excited: would love to see them for myself, especially the "available for Windows Phone" app placement because as you said that is showing that it's a serious third-contender. Though even after these few months I am in disbelief at eBay...

Aren't Nokia being quite aggressive in their marketing over they're though? And even though that's really good to hear it's more the above that I'm referring to. Not Nokia and Microsoft littering our streets and products with ads, but other companies. After all that what matters even more:wink:

Same here in the Philippines. It's as if they're surrendering the success of their Asha lineup.

As for the act Sandisk did, I slow-clapped. Also, if you read the fine print, they refer to Windows Phone as Windows.
