WP8.1 and Facebook Messaging Integration

Hey everyone.

WP 8.0 used to have a single messaging thread for both text and FB Messaging. One used to be able to smoothly switch between texting and FB Messaging. Does anyone know if this is coming back in the final release of WP8.1?

I am really hoping they bring back OS integration. I personally don't like to have to switch to FB to send or reply to a text... I wonder how everyone else feels about it...

Lots of us have wanted this back. I don't know why they couldn't keep it as it was, and had more advanced features in the optional app.

What do you think is the reasoning behind the decision to do away with OS integration? Could it just be that they are waiting for OEMs to release their official updates? I for one don't think that is the issue...

hubs were removed so that they could be updated separately and quickly rather then them being built into the os so it took a whole o/s update to update them ........ I guess with the facebook messaging it could be do with facebook pushing everyone to their messaging app or Microsoft removing it so they don't have to manage the ever changing facebook api's

maybe the messaging hub will allow app developers to plug into it? a bit like the people hub allows apps to plug into it like facebook does with 8.1?

The problem in my terminal is that before on 8.0 while driving my phone read thru the bluetooth car stereo all the SMS and Facebook messages. With 8.1 only read the SMS (not sure because I didn't try it) but the Facebook messages are no read. And even I cannot dictate a Facebok message using my voice on 8.1 although I can do it on 8.0.

It's a nonsense. Why they destroy the message hub? I hope that when Cortana is available for my country (Spain/spanish) "she" will keep on reading the messages for me and allow me to dictate some.

Yeah, I loved having facebook/skype messages right there in the message hub. Even though it didn't work right for group messages. I was hoping to see this even more broad. Allowing whatsapp, etc. But instead of fixing the delay with skype messages I sometimes had, or group messages from facebook not coming through, they just gutted the whole thing. I get it, from their point of view, it's way easier to maintain without worrying about facebook changing something and borking it. But my 4 year old blackberry had a messaging hub and it seemed to work great.

Just read this totally accurate article (it actually felt like this was written by me!!!) on ZDNet about all the important features we are missing with the 8.1 upgrade. We should all vote this up and hopefully Microsoft will listen and bring back simple:

I believe I read that Facebook was taking over development of the app which would be great. Now if we can just get Zuckerberg to use a WP.

Just read this totally accurate article (it actually felt like this was written by me!!!) on ZDNet about all the important features we are missing with the 8.1 upgrade. We should all vote this up and hopefully Microsoft will listen and bring back simple:
