Xbox 360 and Gold subscription

I have a Xbox 360 and bought 3 months GOLD subscription. Microsoft announces free games to be downloaded by the end of the month for Xbox gold customers.
But my download is only partially(40%) completed. What will happen by the end of the month, that is Dec 1st? Will the download stop or will it continue?

It will continue. The game will appear as bought, so you can even erase the game and download it later.

Yes, as soon as you start downloading the game it will register on your account as a bought or paid for game.
Therefore you own the game now, you can download it whenever you want.
