I downloaded the 8.1 critical update, and my phone is all messed up now. How can I fix it?

I downloaded the 8.1 critical update, and my phone is all messed up now.

I can't add phone numbers or edit existing ones. A lot of the apps tell me there is action required, but when I tap them, I get a message saying it can't do that right now, over and over. I was able to use Instagram Beta for awhile but now I can't even log in. I hate this phone.

Hang on.. Go to store > check downloads..

I think your apps are being downloaded currently, which is why you can't use them..

The download progress might also be stuck. Check under email+accounts (settings) if the account you're using with the phone has synced properly. If not, hit sync.. If it's still giving an error check if time/date/region are all set correctly.
