When connected to PC via USB device the phone works iffy, how can I get it to work?

When connected to PC via USB device the phone working iffy.

My phone is Lumia 535 dual sim. I wished to connected it with pc via usb cable to transfer data and project my screen. But when it is connected to pc it is not working. PC said it could not recognize the device and the phone is performing very iffy and weird. Touch screen is very much sensitive that touching any thing is opening a new program.

Please give us some more back ground info.
Do you use windows XP, windows 7, Windows 8. What did you already try.
Is your OS updated?
