640 users, how do you like your purchases??

In case of an alarm, it is a bit troublesome. Evening I must leave phone on any mat, otherwise I don't get up to work :-)

Love my AT&T Lumia 640 and for the price you can't beat it.... Runs great... Just waiting for windows phone 10 now

I have to be honest. I will probably buy another phone with Windows 10 installed on it already before AT&T drops it's windows 10 upgrade. And I'm ok with that. Another wonderful thing about the $80 price.

I upgraded from the 635 to the 640 and am VERY pleased. While my 635 was a good phone, it felt like a top level ENTRY phone, whereas my 640 truly feels like a MID-TIER phone. Front facing camera, LED flash, 8Mp rear camera, 1Gb RAM topped off with a 5 inch display (I feel a 5 inch display is the perfect size for me), I have MetroPCS which is a T-Mobile company and so far with a week of using my new 640 I am very, very pleased with my purchase. I would do it all over again and highly recommend the 640 to anyone.

The Lumia 640 cost me $40 with the 3 Line plan I bought for myself and our two daughters (all inclusive taxes & fees, for $90 a month). The girls got Samsung Galaxy Core Primes each, overall the performance, value and hands on experience has really been a breath of fresh air.

As a car guy I compare the phones thus:

Lumia 5XX to 635: Chevy
Lumia 640: Buick
Lumia Flagships: Cadillac

I had an LG L34C Optimus Fuel and turned out to be total crap, but hey what can you ask for when it was only $32 from walmart. I was just flying back in from Belgium and needed a US phone again. I had it for 6 months and <3 the walmart returns because I totally used claims and got my total cost back since it was a ...junk... and service carrior Straight Talk sucks where I am currently living now it seems. I had them refund my $45 prepaid amount that I didn't use and went to Metro PCS and bought this Lumia 640 in white on some special discount sale for $39! With the returned funds I ended up only paying $20 this month in product & services. I did however purchase their suggested sale of a black gel case w/screen protector for $20. I did this with condition they apply it without ANY bubbles, dirt, dust, lint or anything else...it better be smooth as the glass it is covering. The guy trying to make the sale was able to do it after almost an half an hour of fighting with it...(evil grin) lol. Looks great, feels great, and probably the best phone ever held in my hands for the price!

HOWEVER!!! (scary drumming):
I was out shopping with the phone in my pocket doing "nothing" and when I got home I noticed a message and it was the Data Sense app saying that I exceeded my usage amount? WTF?? On the front it is saying 7.43GB used and when I swipe to the detail view on next screen it says 9.38GB used. It is saying this when I have only used 243mb (180 being stupid auto updates turning phone on).

Off topic: (but should be fixed as well)
Needed an update to have the ability to customize the label of the telephone numbers on our "People" tile. I have 6 numbers to my university that I keep and when I transferred them to this phone it was like moble 1, 2, home 1, 2, ect. that is super annoying that I lost that custom label ability with a windows phone that the android and iphone has. It also has issues trying to put the cursor down, it seems to LOVE selecting the words instead OMG RAGE! This phone has so much potential and these are such a simple things...

Otherwise I love the phone. I expect since it is still fairly new that hopefully these things will get fixed with some type of software update or something. It isn't enough to deter me from regretting the purchase. The swiping texting feature is just effing amazing <3 makes any text format e.g. text, onenote, email etc so much fun and easier (looks like fruit ninja too haha).

This is my first smartphone 😲 and I love it. I have an Android tablet, so I can compare with that. The phone is easy to use and get started with, though I am definitely still learning.

I got the 640 to replace my old 810 and I can def say I am very satisfied with the 640. At the beginning I missed having a dedicated camera button but after a week or two I got over it and I can honestly say I love this phone a lot!

definitely on the right road nice phone with all features, but i think 2gig ram would speed things up.

I think an S800 chip would speed it up more than 2GB of RAM. Lumia 1020 has 2GB with 720p screen, but doesn't seem to speed up. 2GB of RAM is normally for the more demanding 1080p screen. Lumia 640 has nice design. I do agree the cover feels cheap.

The 1020 extra gig of ram is due to the fact of the camera. But yeah I agree with you that it could use an 800 processor. Although is there something between the 400 and 800. Like a 600?

sent from my iPhone...asking myself why I own one

Anyone installed 10 on 640?? How is she doing

I did still buggy. Start screen is slow at times... And some reported SD issues... I didn't encounter that tho... Took an hour to upgrade tho... Reverted back to 8.1 until it speeds up... Looking forward to the next build tho

I think the build will take some time to set stable on phone reverted immediately???

I come from android. I had a Moto G XT1078, excellent device, is undeniable. But I was sick of the look of the android and I have always been a Windows enthusiast. I waited the MS launch a mobile that met my requirements: Two chips, 5-inch screen, 8 megapixel camera and slot for memory card up 64 GB. Today I feel satisfied and look forward to the Windows 10 and use the Continuum with my notebook.

Hugs from Brazil.

My evil plan is to convert hubby to Windows. He has a Moto G 2014 and is very unhappy with it.

Bring him over lol... You see with android devices you can't just get a budget phone... Android OS uses so much resources that 1GB ram does not cut it anymore.... Where as Windows Mobile doesn't use nearly as much resources so a phone like a 635 with 512mb of ram still runs smooth and our 640 runs like a dream with 1GB of ram...

I honestly think it will be the flow keyboard (OH how I love that!) and the Here Maps that you can download and use offline that will do the trick.
