So I saw that the "music hub" tile from the windows store will get you the old music hub back and working on 8.1, but will the tags still be all messed up? I hear that mpatool will STILL work for the music hub tile thing, but does anyone have confirmation on this?

The tags will be whatever they were when you wrote the mp3 file. Xbox Music doesn't overwrite the ID3 tag, but rather creates its own metadata.

You will risk duplicate tracks, though, especially if you use the Xbox Music Store via the old app.

I beg to disagree. NO way offending you or the dev. of the app. It looks splendid from the screenshots seen here, but something as basic as playing music from my phone, IS MY RIGHT and should be FREE. The dev. has put in effort, hard work, time, money, patience. I completely agree. I appreciate it. But the purpose should be to provide people with an alternative, NOT to make money.

It should happen out of love of the community and the pride you will feel when everyone will have your app. It's too basic an app to get charged for IMHO.. Again, dev. - I love the look and feel, don't get me wrong. I sincerely appreciate your hard work. But this is my opinion.

As he stated earlier, no, it will be paying. And frankly, it's a good thing. Application/Software/Web development is a whole lot of work and this app, from the screenshot he posted, seems to be pretty complete. It's only normal he get rewarded for that work. :)

And I completely understand your opinion. But I am a student and I have to pay for my education. I have spend a tremendous amount of my free time in this app, which has been hard hard work. With all do respect, the people that think the price of a beer is not worth a better music experience, can still use the default (Xbox music) app. It will have a free trail so you can see if it is worth it. No one forces you to buy it.

By the way, as I have said earlier, I plan to release a free ad supported version of the app later on.

You can't tell the developer it's your right that he gives you a good music app.

That's not Philippe's job. That's Microsoft's job.

It's my opinion that YOU, X0larium, should harness that love that you feel for the community and write the rest of us a wonderful music app for free.

Thanks in advance!

As for me, I will HAPPILY spend money on an app that does something that I value. If I want something badly enough to whine publicly about it (and I'm talking about my own whining here, not anyone else's ), then why WOULDN'T I be willing to spend a dollar or two to get it?

I say this with respect but this is something we're seeing more and more in this day and age of "everything is owed to me because it's on the internet".

First of all, it is indeed your right to listen to music on your phone and you do have a solution for this that is called Xbox Music. If it's subpar or does not suit you, you have to take it out on Microsoft because they're offering the product you paid for. You can also turn to alternatives which are sometimes free and sometimes not. But that's the dev's decision and it should be respected simply because the dev owes you or anyone else here nothing. No thing. Microsoft owes you decent software as you paid for it.

Now the whole community argument is again a question of choice. If it was to be applied on everything, no one would get paid at work because they should do their job for the good of the company. But that's not how it works you see.

If a dev is able to give it out free, it's his privilege to do so. If not, it is also his privilege. If that does not suit you or anyone else, you can get an alternative player that is free or code one yourself and make it free. And that will also be your choice. And it has to be respected.

Well. To begin with, thank you all for replying. Like I said, I totally appreciate the devs hard work. I genuinely do. While some replies ("wow") left me a little miffed and confused, the others totally made sense. So, guess I'm going to change my mind(and my attitude) and might just buy the app... Cheers to the dev! We want more people like you to make this platform a real nightmare for other companies. People with my kind of attitude will only scare you guys away..so..one beer is not going to make a dent in my budget..cheers!

I guess you mean my post when you say you were a bit miffed but I was so taken aback by you saying that it was your right to have the app free it was all I could say without being insulting towards you.

Glad to see you changed your mind, I'm sure the other posts saying how ridiculous your view was helped.

While I am fine with paying for a good app, I will not buy anything without a trial. I do hope you'll consider releasing a trial version that will allow us to see if it fits or needs.

Music apps on WP 8.0 is better than 8.1 on its fluid. Speed and stability

Actually the music app in WP8 froze a lot on me on startup and other situations involving bluetooth, never had those problems with the poorer WP8.1 prev version. It does lack a lot of features, but what it does, it does well.

Yes, the app will have a 1 week fully functional trail to see if it meets your needs. :)

Also, is there really no way to manually change the artist picture? There's no folder I can put a picture of the artist in named something so it becomes the artist's background picture? I really would love to use the official app, but I'm stuck using the app because of the artist pictures being terrible in the official app.
