Any answers as to why my surface rt won't charge?

I've seen similar questions in regards to it not charging. My issue is the light on my charging cord is on, outlets are good, and seems to have a good magnetic connection to my device. My charger is actually the second one since I purchased my device. The original cord wore out at the brick of charger. Current charger is approximately 2 years old and in excellent condition.
