Battery icon comes and goes?

Hi All, living with the 520 is not all bad. It is much faster than my Moto X for phone use. Dialing is almost instant, so it has become my pocket carry phone. Will leave the X in the truck for maps.

The battery icon only appears when charging, but on the lock-screen it is always there along with other icons.

It makes no sense to this old fart, to have all that great icon-information on the Lock-screen when it is mostly not visible anywhere else. How can I get that lock-screen display of icons on the Start screen?

Swipe down from the top edge of the screen with one finger. Then all icons appear for a few seconds. This works (almost) everywhere.

Tapping the top of the screen is what I do, rather from swiping.

Ahh, OK, either seems to work. Thanks. I'd be happier if I could get them to stay visible all the time though. At the moment I am using a battery app with reasonable Permissions that displays the percentage on the tile-face. Seems to have OK Permissions.

Some times battery App kills the battery overall.
Would suggest try out before you buy an app.

Thanks, this one seems to be using minimal amounts and it is the free version. They have a paid for upgrade, but so far it is doing all I need. I don't need the fancy graphs etc, just like to know when the battery needs to be plugged in to charge. There are chargers all over the house and in vehicles. Five tablets and four phones.
