I'll add to the pile. Matte black 920 bricked (spinning gears for 8+ hours) 2 weeks ago after a hard reset. Warranty replacement (refurbished unit from AT&T) did the same thing this morning.

I had to twist AT&T's arm and go to a supervisor, but AT&T is sending me an all-new unit, which hopefully has all the kinks worked out.

Had the same problem. After approx. 2 weeks after purchasing, my screen acted weird, it did not respond to any touch, only the capacitive buttons did. So i tried to factory reset it and the gears were kept circling for 7+ hours. Then i decided to hard reset it, and i was stuck at Nokia's logo at infinite time. Had it sent to Nokia Care, and waited for 2 weeks to get repaired.

And nothing weird happens ever since.

Hey,

Just had the same problem (where my Lumia 920 was stuck on the gears for hours). After speaking to Nokia, they told me to do the following, and to my surprise it worked.
  1. Hold in "Volume Down" and "Power" until the phone turns off
  2. From off, turn the phone on by holding the "Volume Down", "Power" and "Camera" buttons.
  3. Release the "Camera" button when the phone vibrates
  4. Release the "Volume down" and "Power" when the phone turns on

Hope this helps!

I tried this to and got the same results.

I've reset my Lumia 920 twice and both times it got stuck on the gear-spinning logo.

The first time, I let the battery drain completely and kept powering it on until it wouldn't power on any more. Then I charged it and it came back to life.

Today I reset it, got the spinning gears, and thought I was going to have to do the same thing. I ended up doing a soft reset (Volume-Down + Power) until the phone reset, then let go of Power. As long as I pressed Volume-Down, the phone would show the NOKIA logo and then reboot. I did this several times. I then pressed and held the CAMERA key until the gears came on. I thought it was going to get stuck again, so I laid it down. About 10 minutes later, the screen flashed and caught my attention, and then the Windows Phone logo appeared and the phone booted into a clean OS.

Brandon, you may want to take your cell number out of the message and ask people to PM you

Also, have you tired the Lumia recovery tool?

I think it has an option that may work
