Can you use volume button as camera launch button?

I understand the Android version of the M8 allows you to use the volume button as a camera button if you hold it horizontally. It will even launch the camera if you hold it down while the phone is asleep.
Can this also be done on the Windows variant?

In a word, no. I keep the proshot app on my start screen for quick access. Best solution imo.

That doesn't help when taking the actual picture though. I never realized how important camera buttons were until I lost the camera button lol

The ability to customize the volume button would resolve the disappearance of the volume button, which is a real tragedy. Is this developer-possible?

In the summer with Redstone release you'll get a camera button on the lockscreen which might go some way to helping you out.
