Cobalt theme after 8.1

Yeah, I happened to be using cobalt when I updated to 8.1, so I noticed it right away. Definitely like the more vivid cobalt in 8 better, hopefully they'll bring it back.. Also, MORE COLOURS!

Use an image as wallpaper.

That only affects the start screen tiles. it doesn't change the accent color which is used in many places throughout the OS (app list, messaging, task switcher, Cortana, action center, keyboard, settings switches, etc)

Guess I'm the only one who's a fan of this "new" cobalt colour? I like the flat, pale tone.

The new cobalt isn't bad for those that like it but please give us back the old one! Choice is always good!

I like the new cobalt. But like in Win8, WP should also have a color accent picker. More choices, more fun MS.

Since cobalt is the only accent color in 8.1 that is different from 8.0 I'm afraid to say this was a design choice rather than any kind of color accuracy issue. A very poor design choice as cobalt was probably my favorite accent color.

As you can see the new cobalt is lighter, less saturated and looks more like a light purple on certain screens than blue. This is even more evident when you compare them in text messaging, the people tile, and the task switcher which uses darker and lighter shades of the accent colors. It's just not the same obviously.

This is not the first time MS has modified an accent color in WP but it certainly is the most dramatic and IMO disappointing. I would have much rather them add more colors (Nokia Blue anyone?) than replace a popular one.

Note: The darker shade of the original cobalt is very close to Nokia Blue oddly enough.

Man, I miss the old Cobalt. Any chance we could get an app that allows changing of the accent color? I'm doubtful MS will change the color back (wouldn't mind being wrong).

Hope they change it back because it's horrible on Windows 8 when your syncing your theme. It's way too light.

The new cobalt is fine but please bring back the old one... I miss it more on the chats...

Mine is quite close with the Indigo theme... Which is good. I prefer this than the old one.

I got it back by changing the synced theme from my Surface running 8.1 update either that or it's a placebo. It did make my desktop look funny with the new cobalt until I changed it back

You need to understand the fact that this is developer preview and colours of the screen are related to firmware. Until you see a firmware from your manufacturer, you are not going to be able to see this change.

Are you saying that the colours haven't changed?

Microsoft should just allow us to use a hex for the color of our choice.

Nah screw this, crimson on phone looks pink on computer. We need more accent colors.
