Cortana, OneNote. Voice memo and others don't detect sound on my 1020 after cyan updates

Since yesterday after cyan updates I noticed that whenever I speak to Cortana she listens and then drops. She doesn't respond by saying " internet and I aren't taking now". She simply doesn't respond to all voice commands and chit chat. I did several soft resets to no avail. Initially I thought it was a general problem which would be fixed by Microsoft, but after writing to a forum on WPc I realized that I was alone. It then came to my mind that perhaps Cortana wasn't detecting my voice. So, I tried to record a voice note on my OneNote and no sound was detected. I also tried with voice memo app and no sound was detected. I tried SMS by converting voice to text and no sound was detected. I tried video recording and sound was detected this time around. It's really scary as I've never experienced anything like this. Is there anything I can do FI fix this problem?

See if people can hear you when you are using the speakerphone. Mine had the same issue yours is having and my speakerphone wouldn't work either. Basically one of the two mics on the phone stopped working after the 8.1 update and I haven't been able to fix it yet.

I have had this problem 2 times before.

First time, no way to fix it. I tried all solutions, talk to Nokia Care, and they replace it for me

2nd time, keep plugging and unplugging your headset in to the jack few times, it might work, but no gurantee, eventually. I am tired of this **** problem. I just use a bluetooth headset now.

It sucks!

I had this problem on Update 1 with Black (haven't come across it since updating luckily). Soft-reset usually brought her back :)

It seems there's a bug where the microphone driver just decides to fail randomly...

I had this happen on my 1020 which I bought used so I had no chance of getting it exchanged for another by Nokia or Microsoft. I ended up buying a replacement mic/headphone jack component on eBay and replaced the one in my phone. It worked and not all the voice search and speakerphone functions are back.
