Disable backup in Windows Phone 8

I realize I could have posted this in the Whatsapp topic, but given the ranting about lack of updates I'd imagine my question would get buried..

I see the backup button for Whatsapp, clicking it states a backup has just occurred.. but there's no settings for the backup.
I don't need backups of anything. How can it be disabled?

Using:
Windows Phone 8 on Nokia Lumia 520

I can't seem to edit the title... this question is for Whatsapp specifically. But forceful backups/syncing of other data is annoying, too.

Whats App's Backup is just a show off. It doesn't really backs up anything. This feature is non existant as the whats app folder in SD card is always empty. So I think it does not take any memory. Also there is no way to turn that off. Hopefully whats app will give us some features in next update.

Does it backup to Whatsapp servers though? I don't care for that type of backup, either.
