I'm getting a notification on my 8S that there is a software update, and when I initiate the download it says "Downloading updates 0%". However, it never moves past 0%. Is this the same behaviour other 8S/8X users are seeing? Or are you not getting a notification for an update at all?
Turn off Battery Saver. That's all. I had the same problem.

I asked a couple of questions on the HTC Chat support. The guy told me some interesting information.

He told me that an official Windows Phone 8.1 rollout will start next week (His personal thaught, no official information). And that only the HTC 8X will get the update. (He didn't mention the 8S). Does an official Windows Phone 8.1 rollout also includes a firmware update?

Yepp, it does :). Well. That is (if true..) is good news.
Thanks for sharing

Marcus Ash (Group Program Manager for Cortana on Windows Phone) tweeted that Joe Belfiore has contacted the internal update team about the HTC devices and that we can "expect to hear something ASAP".

I still can't post links (10 post requirement) but I've PMed Daniel Rubino with the link and the question to post it. Or, if anyone else has found the tweet, feel free to help out :)

Sadly, this doesn't guarantee that the news will be good. They just might blame HTC for it again. But I'm hoping for the best.

Noob here.

My husband got the update on his Lumia 925, and I am seriously kicking myself for not going with the Lumia when I had the chance a couple months ago! I was trying to be loyal, but now I see that I should have moved on. He's loving 8.1, while I'm over here pathetically checking my 8X for updates. I haven't even received the first part of the update that others are getting. Nothing at all. And HTC was no help, they said it's up to my carrier, which is BS. AT&T told me that they are working on it. Hopefully they get this solved soon! I'm getting impatient!

Are you talking about 8.1? Or 8.1.1.

So basically, HTC's not doing anything, until Microsoft does something (they have the software), but Microsoft won't release the update until HTC gives out an update, so they can deliver their update.

And I bet they will be shocked why people will go with a Lumia next time (I mean those who don't give up on the platform entirely).

This is why I just upgraded my 8X to a new Lumia 930. HTC's support of Windows Phone has been shocking, especially for a company who's launch model was the "flagship" of windows phone 8 when it launched.

Okay okay, so I was mentioned not long ago on Twitter by @52yico of a screenshot from a HTC C620d detailing the phone OS version, which reads 8.10.14147.180. If I'm not mistaken that's Update 1 running on a HTC device, which means it could be coming sooner than we think. All he said with the image was "Something. The Dev Preview may come in the near future."

Edit: I've noticed a change in Firmware and some slight others (though that may be to do with hardware and/or country), so I'd think the Firmware update is almost ready?

C620d is actually the HTC 8x!

Not going to get my hopes up tbh, but that would be great news. Just checked for updates, but I've had nothing new yet today.

Well the fact that they are finally giving an actual non-general answer and working on it makes it a bit less bad. If it's just a little more waiting it's not so bad.
