YAY!!!!

Microsoft found an 'issue' with the Windows Phone 8.1 Update Preview for HTC devices, working on a fix | Windows Phone Central[/url]

Thank you! Great news. Now let's hope that it doesn't take them too long or that they let it die down and the update never comes.

Nice!! Having a HTC is fun. Bad news, good news, dissappointements, things to look forward,..... :)

It's definitely a roller coaster of mixed feelings. Not a huge fan of paying to step in a ride that makes me feel sick though :p

Yes I think that helped a lot.
Ok we are on dev preview but come on Htc left us alone so its a good start for them to prove they exist on WP.
This is my opinion and I am a big htc fun and wp fun but sometimes I feel like HTC forgets its wp phones so easy.

I haven't seen anyone (in this thread or in the WPC articles) mention the 8XT. My 8XT is still sitting on .899, so I assume the issue affects that device as well. Any 8XT users getting Update 1?

This issue also included the HTC 8s, so probably the 8XT as well :)

On behalf of the more patient (and usually silent) majority...
Last night my 8X did indeed get a minor update via the Developer Preview Program.
It is great to hear that MS & HTC are working to resolve any problem with this update, and with GDR1.
It is great to have an alternative like the DPP, and not be quite as much of a slave to the cell carriers.
Back in 2012, As a US Verizon customer I was happy to go with an HTC 8x since it was the only WP on Verizon that had a decent size screen.
It has served me valiantly ever since, and I appreciate it.
An now we return you to the bitc# fest.

If it's because of the firmware, then I think HTC just needs to come our with new hardware exclusively for Windows phone. Not just for Verizon but At&T as well. 😊

I love my 8x with is slim design and great camera too. I am glad they are making HTC update their firmware though since I still get text message cannot send messages on a regular basis. I spoke with an HTC tech who said it was a firmware issue and they "were aware of it." Perhaps the update will fix that too? I'm hopeful

Let's the checking for updates begin! I hope it will be solved very soon, maybe about a week. I don't wanna wait anything more than that!

Owning a HTC is an unique experience. You learn to live on the edge and with the idea that the next update is the last then amazing thing happen and you get it. Then the next and the next and suddenly - you don't. Then you are ready to die and put an epitaph "I should bought a Lumia". Still you think that buying a Lumia would be an waste of money and there is no other phone yet released which worths the switch. And you still have the hope that HTC will not abandon their only (sort of) WP. HTC didn't sell you a smartphone. They sell you emotions, thoughts, worries, surprises, faith.

Today from support HTC learned that they are planning an official update for 8X. I am writing from Russia. If they update the HTC 8X in Russia that the rest do not need to worry.

Nah, haven't you realised that a load of Nokia devices are also a mess with updates?

In truth even Nokia fans should be disappointed with how things are going. Windows phone as a whole is a complete mess at the moment, the cancellation of the McLaren device, the absolute carnage that is the 8.1 rollout and now this. HTC actually bringing a decent device to the platform with the W8 would have been a big boost and good news for everyone who cares for WP. This mess is more negative press for the platform and like with the botched release of the 930, it's entirely Microsoft's fault.

What? How come the 8S is being left out? Internal storage should have nothing to do with it since you can store apps on the SD card. I've got around 1GB free! Plus what major differences do the 8S and 520 have? This news has totally ruined my life till February next year...

Edit: To be honest I'm going to take this with a grain of salt since it wasn't an official announcement and had to be translated from a discussion site. Plus, the storage and/or RAM can't be an issue. The 520 is practically identical. Something fishy is afoot...
