HTC 8XT 4g issues?

So im wondering if the 4g works? because as soon as i got my phone in mail from ebay i updated to 8.1. Now i m wondering why i never see 4g icon or lte every when im driving around town where I would usualy have 4g on my older phone. Im wondering if its my phone hardware or is it the beta? Do I need a sim card for 4g? because i know sprint is diffrent and usualy doesnt need it. i really need help.

Are you sure 4G is turned on? Check under 'Settings-> Cellular+SIM -> 'SIM Settings -> Mode Selection - LTE and CDMA'

4G works for me on my 8XT, and does display '4G' when I'm on LTE. I haven't had any issues.

So i need to have a sim card? I had one in there but it caused problems maybe ill try again

Yes you must have the SIM card in there to get 4G and you have to make sure the SIM card is registered to the phone, which you can do on Sprints website.
