Re: IPS or AMOLED?

IPS is a better compromise in my opinion right now. The IPS screen on the 920 is underwhelming though. The AMOLED on the 925/928 is not bad, but it suffers from color shift at minor angles and has really poor response time. There is noticeable motion blur compared to any modern LCD I have used. Burn-in is also a problem with OLED but my 928 has not suffered any yet. I am careful to invert the color schemes every few days to balance it out.

Re: IPS or AMOLED?

Has anyone ever experienced a screen burn-in with an amoled display and how long is the pixel lifespan? (Considering a 925 and i just wanted to know more about the amoled display)

IPS, whatever was on the Lumia 900, had really bad colors, the 920 is great!

Re: IPS or AMOLED?

Having moved from a short stint with a 920 to a 925 I will say AMOLED. It has much more clarity, is easier to view in sunlight and just simply looks better.

Re: IPS or AMOLED?

Comparing my AMOLED ATIV S side by side with my brother's IPS 920, I love how the ATIV's screen looks. The 920 screen looks great until you put it side by side with AMOLED, and then you say "wow!" upon seeing AMOLED. White does look better on the 920 though due to IPS LCD.

That would be best way to go, personally I have no preference just as long its readable / viewable in bright sunlight. However in saying that AMOLED is too bright in the dark i.e. to bright to use in the Cinema or someone calls you in the middle of the night and you have glaring screen in your face.. lol. I had my omnia b7610 which is AMOLED on low brightness even then it always used to burn me eyes!

Re: IPS or AMOLED?

I haven't seen the newer AMOLED (I've played with a S2, S3 and a few other older Samsungs) screens but comparing what I have seen to the L920 IPS screen... The IPS wins hands down.
