go for 950xl , you will definitely love it the same like your old 1520. Technically 950xl is a beast in front of 1520 and i believe it is time for you to switch : )

I'd have to agree with going for the 950XL...

I had some issues trying to replace the cracked screen on my 1520 last year. Not sure if it's just what's available in general or more of a local issue for me, but it seemed the repair shop couldn't get OEM screens and that every time they "fixed" my phone with a non-OEM screen, it would have issues... screen would freeze if you touched too low on the screen / too close to the capacitive buttons. OR, there were intermittent issues with ghost tapping (I'd be using one finger to scroll, but it was sensing a 2nd contact and zooming instead). In the end, after 3-4 replacement screens on 2 different 1520's (both mine and the wife had cracked screens), the shop refunded my money.

I paid $160 CAD this summer to replace the screen of my 1520 when it stopped responding to touch. I didn't think the 950XL was substantially better enough to upgrade, and I want to wait for the Surface Phone next year and see what Microsoft has got.

The 1520 feels better in your hand. It feels more complete. The 950xl feels like a beta/demo phone tbh...

How much are 950xl in your country? I think the 1520 has a comparable camera, maybe slightly slower. Battery is removable, so you can potentially wait for the surface phone 2 (once they've fixed up all the bugs hahah).

I am facing almost the same problem: except that in my own case, my 1520 has been performing exceptionally great since the 2+ years I've had it. I'm torn between upgrading to 950XL or waiting for the rumored Surface Phone. Is the upgrade to 950XL worth it? What am I missing hanging on to my 1520? Is the wait for the Surface Phone worth it?

I own both a 1520 and a 950XL.

I love both devices.

The 950XL Dual Sim was great on my last international trip. That was it's best feature.

The 1520 still handles everything as good as the 950XL, but with a bigger screen.......and the screen issues we all know and love.....the 950XL does not have that.

But the 1520 has PRESENCE......people see it an marvel at the size. The 950XL goes unnoticed by most.

My 2 cents for all to consider.

it is a personal call.

Funny I am actually considering the opposite - my 950xl screen is broke, and has always been buggy anyway, so I was considering the 1520 and upgrading to w10 - can anyone comment on how well w10 runs on the 1520? Seeing in amazon for around $260

So far I'm enjoying my new L950XL. I only have two issues: One, it takes time for the phone to recognize me during unlocking, resulting in it asking me to unlock with my PIN. My Surface Pro 4 recognizes me from any angle. Two, I almost have to punch the screen several times to Double Tap to Wake, unlike my 1520 which only requires two light taps to wake.

Were it not for Continuum I'd say the 1520 is a superior device in spite of its age and "inferior" specs. That power button placement on the XL made me put mine on feeBay in less than 24 hours.

Upgrade to a Lumia 950 XL.

But do not just throw your Lumia 1520 away, I purchased a replacement screen from eBay for about 20 bucks and it works as good as new.

Very true. I just fixed my 1520s screen. Even though, I used to have a 950xl. It's a great phone but it was a major game changer against my 1520. So I kept the 1520 and gave the 950xl back
