Keyboard/trackpad issues

For about the last 2 weeks, my keyboard dock becomes unresponsive for about 10-20 seconds whenever I move my surface book or pick it up. At first I thought it was static electricity, but it happens if I pick it up and gently set it down in my lap. If I slide it a few inches across my desk, the trackpad and keys stop working for 10-20 seconds. Is it time for me to take it to the Microsoft store? I bought it 7/4/16, and it has all updates

try removing it and cleaning the contact pins and then putting it back

Thanks but that was the first thing I tried. Unfortunately, it didn't help.
