I cannot remember my Windows password. I have tried that online form that Microsoft has, and after I submit it I receive an email that says I have not provided enough information. I have given all of the information I can remember. I called Microsoft support, even they won't help me by phone, they keep insisting I use the online form. I'm at a loss- I've tried everything I could. I am about to lose my mind!!! Can anyone give me advice as to what to do? Thank you in advance.

Simple

First you need to use recovery tools like when your windows can't boot to trigger it press F5 after BIOS logo

From there you can access command promt

Then you can try to enable build in administrator account using command line

Log in using admin account. Create new account in control panel that you need. Migrate everything you need from previous account to the new one. Then delete the old account.

Finally disable admin account on your new account on command promnt again(run as admin)

For a local account on windows 7 or 8 you can use the sethc / cmd trick from a bootable windows PE or Linux live OS but If it's a account password you might have to reset that online. Its alot easier if you have a phone number or secondary email attached to your account security. information

I am not sure but I think it's a Windows account, not a local one. On my log in screen it has my username and below that, my email address. The problem is that email address goes to an old email account which I no longer have).

Try some tricks in this article and see if that helps. Good luck.
How Best Buy?s computer-wiping error turned me into an amateur blackhat
I'm really not sure what to get out of that article. If they are referring to an Offline Password Reset tool the one I found only works for local accounts.

When I access the command prompt window it still makes me choose an account for which I want to use the command prompt. It only lists one account (the one I'm locked out of) and if I select that, it prompts me for a password.

The other thing I have tried is booting in safe mode, which still just takes me to the same log in screen. I also tried the windows key + X but this does nothing. Also tried right clicking on the start button to see if I can get the command prompt as Adminstrator to come up but it doesn't.
