Lumia 635 Bugs and Defects

To everyone having to plug in the headphones twice to get the phone to detect them, you might want to try plugging them in more assertively, as per a suggestion on the "Lumia 630 Bugs and Defects" thread. Would post a link but I still don't have 10 posts. :(

635 on T-Mobile here.
Lately the phone won't switch from Wi-Fi to data when I'm out away from home unless I kill off the Wi-Fi calling feature then shut off the phone and restart.

This was working flawlessly one week ago.
Looks like the work-around for me is keeping wi-fi calling set to "cellular preferred"
I'm not seeing the bugginess with this setting.

I went through that with CC a few days ago and finally figured it out on my own.

Internet APN ccdata and leave everything else blank. Let me know if you need anything further. I have everything working.

John

Everytime I listen to music on my 635 with headphones, the song will just stop, and Ill have to hit pause to have it start again. Im thinking the headphone jack is faulty in a lot of these phones..Its annoying.

John, Thanks for your reply. I have all the ccdata imputed, and everything works - cell calls, internet sms and mms. It is just that the set does not display LTE in strong full bar areas and based on net check app it only shows working only on 3G, with the both download and upload speeds showing nearly 3G speed.

I am not sure where you are but mine displays LTE and appropriate download speeds. When you pull the notification bar down, it should show "My Network LTE". No proxy server or port is needed in the Internet APN setup.

One thing you may need to do and I did was call CC to give them the phones' IMEI number so they could provision the phone for LTE>

I am in Florida. I have talked to CC numerous times even 2nd level support and they do have me IMEI and they supposedly have provision my number and the phone at their end.

You are the first person that I know that has the 635 on CC, they informed me that I was the first;gGood to know. I am about to change carriers and go to AT&T GO Phone if the problem cannot be corrected.

It can be corrected as I learned. I have tried to send you a pm as the solution I am using uses a couple of urls and I can't post them.

I had this problem as well (haven't checked lately). I just tried to always remember to turn off Wi-Fi calling before I left the Wi-Fi range, and it would be fine.

So, I am very happy to report that the headphone issue seems to be gone -- a mix of inserting the headphones assertively and the jack being slightly less tight now means that I have experienced zero issues of headphones not being detected. So I am keeping my 635! :)

Had the 635 for a little less than a week (replacement for a beloved 920 that died). My computer (running Windows 8) won't recognize it. When I connect with a USB cable, the phone starts charging, but doesn't appear in This PC (file/folder list) or in the Windows Phone app. Is there some setting I need to change?

635 ATT family share plan - no contract - had a 520 go phone 8.0 hotspot worked - upgraded to 8.1 hotspot died, online postings say windows issue . Microsoft store let me upgrade to 635 go phone hotspot still dead, att cust service hasn't called back. While in the att company store The demo 635 allowed the hotspot to enable. Anybody have hotspot working w att?

Resolved by ATT store staff - the "new device" needed to be registered to my account. Hotspot is now functional - still have one 520 w 8.1 no hotspot - will double check w att if that device is registered

FYI - also now shows LTE nominally whereas showed 4G before

For the MMS setting by repeating the same steps above, instead of selecting Internet APN, select Add MMS APN------> then set the APN name also to fast.t-mobile.com -------> set MMSC(URL) to mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc after the http and leave all other fields blank as well---> Save the settings and your phone should be able to send and receive pictures and all other multimedia contents. I Hope this help out and i'm expecting Microsoft to fix the software bugs that is causing the wi-fi problem because that is a basic functionality everyone expect to use fully without trouble.

Attempting to use Access Point and received this message:

"These settings are only available for earlier versions of windows phone, and wont work with this operating system".

I do have access point with the latest update, but unable to use it. Is this a problem that will soon be corrected?

When I first got my 635 I let it boot up and get any pertinent updates. After all was good, I just did a hard reset before I actually used the phone. I'm not experiencing any issues with the T-mobile 635. Maybe just try hard reset could rectify any issues ....... maybe. Wouldn't hurt to try IMHO.

This ir My first Windows Phone and first impression is good. Phone works fine in big leap's, but I have a few minor problems.

IE can be laggy. I have experienced bug mentioned about video not showing picture that made phone even hang on full screen. Soft reboot helped. And one other time IE just got slow in response and got phone to soft reboot itself. I had 4 tabs opened.

Default music player is not adding newly added songs from PC. It takes up to 10 minutes to come up on playlist. And if song is replaced it just crashes.

Since the headphone issue has reappeared again (I changed to more new headphones and cannot insert them as forcefully -- I am afraid I will break them), I still think the loudspeaker is too distorted, and there is a bright blue stuck pixel on the phone (hardly noticeable during the day, but easy to spot in a dark bedroom at night), I decided to return my 635 and ask Amazon for a replacement.

With my typical lack of luck for electronics, the replacement also has the occasional headphone detection issue and ALSO has a bright blue pixel (and almost in the same place, too!). So when I asked Amazon what were my options, they decided to stop selling the 635 while they investigate...
I don't want to derail this thread further so I created a separate one here:
http://forums.windowscentral.com/as...5-pulled-spanish-amazon-website-now-what.html

I am SO unlucky when it comes to screens. I have a total of 6 screens at home (these two phones, two monitors at my desktop, my laptop and my TV) and 5 of those 6 have pixel problems, 4 of which quite noticeable (one of them is a dead black pixel, which is not that noticeable).

Well, it seems Amazon is selling it again, so they must have concluded that there was just a streak of bad luck from me and other customers (since they mentioned "several users" complaining in an email to me).

Well, here I go try my third 635... wish me luck! :)

This has been a consistent problem since I got the phone. I misses calls, even when it has a signal and I'm using WiFi calling. I can use the phone and other features but then will turn the phone off and back on and find that I have four voice mail messages from people who were trying to reach me. I'm using WiFi calling and anyway, other TMO phones I have get enough signal to receive a call. Bug?

I just got a bug whit cellular network. In My job cellular network signal is not great so it lies at 2-3 bars. Suddenly My phone turned into flight mode and rebooted. After reboot I got one sms that was sent to Me a while a go.
