Hello,

I encounter some problems with my 830.

  • FFC is Dusted
the screen is moving a little bit, and the front camera is very dusted
    pic.jpg
  • The proximity sensor doesn't work anymore:
during calls, screen is black, the phone think that an ear is detected
double tap doesn't work, and glance screen stay for 5 seconds instead of permanently
    auto-luminosity is always at 100%

when I record a video of my 830 with my PC webcam, i can see the sensor red light twinkle

I think this is full hardware problems, but I wonder if someone here is experiencing this kind of design issues?
I am going to send it back using reseller warrantly, but I want to know if this is usual.. I have seen a lot of 830 screen defects here

A few have stated before their screen let go on some 830 models. Dust and broken proximity sensor are all side effects of a screen letting go of it's housing. Send your phone back for repairs, it's obviously broken at a hardware level.

I have an occasional problem with my RM-985 where the notification sound for my personal email will make this horrid noise, assume that is where it is coming from, cannot replicate manually no matter what, hard to describe but something like cranking a music system way beyond its capabilities and distorting the sound. Checked, changed settings/sounds and even performed a complete factory reset (for other reasons) but it still appears from time to time, only seems to happen while plugged in and charging which is weird, anyone else experienced such an anomaly?

Will be curious if and when the "real" Denim comes to my phone whether this along with my other annoyances and quirks are resolved, kind of skeptical at this point but there's not much harm in dreaming right.

Also sorry for a second post but the vibration keys does not have consistent vibration. Sometimes it is really strong and sometimes really weak. Anyone else has this??

Realise this was ages ago, but I just got a replacement and on my new one I have this issue. Did anyone find a fix?!!

I have noticed that in the bottom left hand region of my screen there's a white spot. On a gray background there's a white little spot on the display. On a white background it's whiter than the rest of the screen. Strange.

This appeared on my old one (which I just returned) along with a bunch of stuck pixels on the same side towards the top.... Anyone ideas on what caused it?

My phone just got a lot of (over 100 at least) stuck/dead green and red pixels, no idea where these came from.

Had my phone since it came out, two months ago or so - never dropped it either.

I always look at my phone before falling asleep, but yesterday I saw these dead/stuck pixels immediately when I pulled down the notificationcenter. You can see them very clearly when you have the highest brightness and black screen. Didn't see these the other day, so they must have appeared sometime yesterday.

I will now RMA this phone, they should easily detect all these pixels.

Just returned mine for the same reason. I was hypothesising that is might be due to the heat it gets to when wireless charging, but then realised the screen isn't on when it does that so shouldn't be that... I have no idea... Either way, got a replacement with its own unique issues (haptic vibrate stopping / weak being the main one)

Another issue I've noticed (RM-985) is the battery depleting overnight whilst being off, I'll charge to 100% then shut it down, turn it on in the morning and it will be down by 5-6% seconds after booting up. Did some testing over the weekend and managed three full days without charging (36+ hours), wasn't super heavy usage in that period but would say it was just below average, battery saver is set to kick in at 20% and actually had troubles getting it to go below the 20% mark, because work was nearing had to throw it on charge. The top range of the battery gives me an uneasy feeling at times as it seems to deplete relatively fast yet when all is said and done it does pretty good, also, the charging rate isn't anything to write home about and I consider it poor, tried different chargers etc. with little effect, compared to my Ativ S and 1020 the 830 has definitely had more problems out of the box.

It seems to be related to the hardware defect that causes the random reboots. Most of the 830's I saw had the occasional same noise coming from the app before a restart. Suggest you get it replaced.

Nope no restart on mine when this happens, know this as I usually check the phone right away and it's just an incoming email notification, been just over a week now since my last reboot

Funny story. I originally thought I had this but as it turned out, the sales rep who put my battery in also left the long plastic strip (for opening the cover the first time) attached. It was lying over the speaker area and randomly distorting my notification sounds. Doh!

I have problems with the speaker.
Most of the time it's not working anymore - when I put some pressure around the speaker, then I can hear the sound. Release it and sometimes it works for a couple of minutes 'til days and the it stops again.
First when I got the phone everything worked fine, and then it started and getting worse.
Anyone else facing this problem?

PS: it started also with that horrible sound when a message notification was played.
