I have an RM-984 and an RM-985. Both experience random reboots (once every day or two) but neither of them freeze-up.

Ok, the word freeze might just be too strong term to be used.
What I mean is that the phone stops responding for a few seconds, and then reboots. As I told, it usually happens while reading a post on a forum, so it feels like a freeze-up when you suddenly cant scroll the page anymore.

My phone just got a lot of (over 100 at least) stuck/dead green and red pixels, no idea where these came from.

Had my phone since it came out, two months ago or so - never dropped it either.

I always look at my phone before falling asleep, but yesterday I saw these dead/stuck pixels immediately when I pulled down the notificationcenter. You can see them very clearly when you have the highest brightness and black screen. Didn't see these the other day, so they must have appeared sometime yesterday.

I will now RMA this phone, they should easily detect all these pixels.

My wife has been experiencing an odd glitch on her 830. She will be typing text (not sure if it occurs in other applications) and immediately after pressing the space key, the keyboard will not type anymore words. She can backspace and delete and then type again, still next space stops working. Then after she tries a couple times, it just starts working again. Anyone else experienced? 830 issue or happened on other phones? thoughts?

My L830 has sound issues with games and ear phones or external speakers. I discovered it while playing Candy Crush and Bejeweled and using ear phones (several ones). Some hi range and low frequency sounds, like the ones in scene transitions after lose a life in Candy Crush, or explosions, in Bejeweled, are distorted. Tried to plug to aux in on my stereo and the same happens. The curious is, everything is normal when using device speakers. So, my guess is, or it's a software bug/issue or it's a problem with the sound hatch Jack. Anyone?

RMA is the process of returning a product in order to receive a refund, replacement, or repair during the product's warranty period. :p

Sure, you don't really see these pixels in daily use, but I can't just accept over 100 dead/stuck pixels that I still can see. Also, after you now know they are there, it's even worse.

Hi all, I recently purchased L830 since I was having some problems on my L925. But I noticed that the same problem which was bugging me on L925 persists on L830 too. The problem is that sometimes apps like Whatsapp, Messenger or Appy Geek they just load but do not open. After few seconds they crash. Then for the next 3-5 minutes even If I click on them I am unable to open the app. I have no clue whatsoever why would this happen. I have taken a picture of what happens after the apps crash as shown below is anyone facing this issue?? I did a fresh install again but still the issue persists. Any insight would be helpful.

- Do you have an SD card installed ?
- Are those apps installed on the SD card (if so, move them to the phone).
- Unpin Cortana from your home screen and see if that helps.

You can't store WhatsApp an SD card. Unpinning Cortana might help but I'd also uninstall WhatsApp & ( facebook?) Messenger and do a softest before installing them again.

This happens to me extremely rarely with the Zbox app. But not with Whatsapp.
And no, I don't have the app on the SD card.

I have my doubts that the "random reboot" is SD card related. I have had my 830 for about 4 months now, and I have never installed a SD card. I have been experiencing random restart events from day 1 of owning this phone. My suspicion so far is that this is related to one of these 3 areas:
1. A wireless connectivity problem.
2. A factory installed program or app.
3. A specific piece of hardware that is common across several models of Windows phones.

I haven't done any formal QA on this problem, but this is what I have noticed when casually observing this problem.
1. I was having this problem right from day 1, before any apps were installed.
2. The restarts are occurring regardless of what I am doing with the phone (angry birds, viewing webpages, using the weather app). The most ironic instance of this auto restart, was when it occurred while I was submitting a survey to MS in which they were asking my opinion on the phone so far. In my survey response, I noted that the phone automatically restarted at random times. I'm not sure if they actually got the note in my survey response, because the phone restarted as I was hitting submit.
3. I have never installed a SD card in the phone.
4. This problem seems to occur more often in certain areas of my home where wireless signal strength (both cellular and wifi) are weaker, in the basement for example. I would also point out that I spend less time using my phone in these areas, but auto restarts seem to happen more often.

Here is one last behavior I have noticed when the phone auto restarts, although I haven't determined it's significance. Maybe someone else will have some insight:
When using IE I have 2 tabs open. I open a new tab and begin browsing and open a link from My Favorites, for example. I view the webpage and return to the home screen by pressing the Windows button. When I open IE again, I see the most recently viewed page and when I look at the tabs I see the other 2 tabs open. 3 tabs in total, all showing the last viewed page on each. This is exactly how you would expect the phone to behave.
Scenario 2 is when the phone auto restarts shortly after opening a new tab and loading the page from My Favorites. If a new tab is opened, a Favorite is selected, the page loads, I view the page for about 15 seconds and then the phone auto restarts. When IE is opened again, the new tab has completely disappeared as if it was never there. The phone is crashing just-as, or just-before it is storing the information about this new tab to memory (and/or possibly while trying to send the data about the new tab over wireless).

I would also note that my previous phone was a Lumia 800 that I had for 3 years, and never had this problem once.

Just want to say that I've also had reboots when using IE. They are infrequent but occasionally annoying, especially when some tabs aren't recovered.

I keep multiple tabs open and the reboots seem to happen after switching tabs or reloading a tab from the background.

After owning my Lumia 830 (RM-985) for a couple of months I compiled a few cons and observations, was expecting it to be on par if not slightly better than my 1020/Ativ S but to date it hasn't proved so. Did a factory reset 12 days ago with not much in the way of improvements, faulty unit I don't know but definitely not alone as others are experiencing similar issues. All three of my Windows Phones are setup similarly in regards to apps, configuration and settings.

• Random freezing followed by a reboot while using apps, 7 reboots to date with no particular pattern other than app usage, have not encountered an idle reboot that I’m aware of.
• Capacitive buttons (“back” mostly) sometimes unresponsive, have iShieldz protector installed
• Screen a tad too sensitive at times (set on high), in normal mode “back” button not sensitive enough
• Occasional screen lag or jitteriness while scrolling or when returning to home screen
• Noticing “Resuming” is more prevalent on 830 compared to my 1020/Ativ S
• Lumia camera on par speed-wise with my 1020 yet was expecting it to be slightly better, using the MS camera makes it comparable to my Ativ S
• Camera physical button overly sensitive, somewhat better w/gel case on but still find myself constantly launching camera
• Battery slow to charge, takes about 2-2.5 longer than my 1020 or Ativ S
• Battery falls of rapidly from 100% charge by 5-8% within first 20-30min, seems to balances out after that
• Battery drain under medium to heavy usage is 1.5-2 times faster than that of my 1020/Ativ S
• Slow to shutdown, takes approx. 4-5 times longer compared to my other WPs, 1st 1020, 2nd Ativ S and lastly 830… Latter is the faster of the three on start-up but only by a smidgen

My phone reboots mostly when I write here in the forum using Windows Central app.

I get that as well but I suspect it's the Windows Central app. There are other issues such as the app randomly saying I'm not logged in after resuming from the multitasking screen.

That's a long list lol. I am happy overall with the Lumia 830. I haven't had any problems with the capacitive buttons or any accidental camera launches. In fact, I often half-press the camera button accidentally while gaming. Charge time is average, somewhere around 2-2.5 hours with the provided charger (from close to empty). Don't know about wireless charging though.

I noticed my L830 restarting after GPS use. When Hear Drive is rebooted it doesn't have the offline maps loaded, spoken languages downloaded and it goes on to online mode. Kinda annoying...

Used mine for a couple of trips and nothing happened ( between 1 to 3 hours ). Maybe by re-installing the app it will work better!
