I traded my Nokia Lumia 625 to get this phone, I got it brand new still in its wrapping at a UK store called CeX... So I don't think Nokia can do anything =(

It may still be under warranty. Ask Nokia, it can't hurt.

This may sound weird but have you powered off the phone for at least a minute and then powered it back on? Also, does the phone feel warm all the time? If so, then something is getting stuck on. My phone did this today and only the power off for over a minute trick brought it back in line.

I didn't read all posts but to rise up your battery life on lumia 920 should insulate 4 pin contacts on wireless charger circuit inside back cover of lumia ;) (who don't use it at all).
Battery life will increase up to one day, maybe a bit more.

my release day Lumia 920 started having this battery drain issue as well. it had worked fine until last week. the phone now is warm all the time and drains the battery in a few hours even idling, and with battery saver mode on.

i uninstalled most of the apps that could run on the background, including the Nokia GPS app, thinking maybe some updated apps might have caused it. no dice.

i checked for phone update, and updated my phone to the latest firmware. it stayed cool for a few minutes and then started heating up again.

i tried soft reset, and the problem would appear again after a few minutes. in fact my phone has been becoming increasingly unstable even before this battery drain issue appeared. and i find myself doing soft reset more more often when my phone freezes.

don't want to try a hard reset yet.

the phone is already out of warranty and i am not eligible for an upgrade until the end of this year :/

Re: lumia 920 Battery Issues

You should not compare Lumia 920 to a Galaxy Note cause those are completely different devises in battery size terms. Try Lumia 1529 or 1320 and than judge a system. My comparison to android devices ( Galaxy s3, LG 4XHD and xperia s, xperia arc s, HTC desire) is that battery life is the same.

Hi, I have a "query ", I am spanish user with a French rom that it's fine for me with GDR3 (v. ... 155 ... ) and I have a doubt about your batteries... I think that the mobile does not know what battery spent, does strange things, the battery percentage is mostly wrong. Lately the battery lasts longer with the same use, my battery lasts more than a full day except If I use a lot of whatsapp app and others .. (turning it off at night, 4G on, without bluetooth, nfc, one push mail....), but to reach the full day I have to turn it off one or twice, I mean, when I see the percentage around 15 % as I do not trust if this percentage is real, I turn it off one minute or 2 and then I turn it on, and usually I find the percentage of charge above 50-60 % to my surprise, so the mobile support the next day or half day, I'm wondering if the same happens to you??? I realised a hard reset on the phone but the same thing still happens. Conclusion, the battery of the mobile confuses me, Greetings ! (sorry my english)

I sent my Lumia 920 off to repair on the 5th February, hopefully they fix it or just give me a new 920.

My 920 does that too. When it's 10 % battery i reboot it and battery meter jumps from 10 to 50% (and sometimes more).

Battery gauge is very unreliable on Lumias Phones, especially 920.

Re: lumia 920 Battery Issues

So can I ask here. Any tips here to extend battery life ? I mean besides not enabling background task and what not, are there any ways we can do to make the battery hold the charge longer ?
Thanks.

Re: lumia 920 Battery Issues

Its been a month since I got myself a brand new lumia 920. Its batteruy is draining heavily. Here are my observations.

Once I charge it fully and leave it idle, the battery will go on for a long time. The moment I start using it, for maybe like five minutes, the battery drains so much. On continuous usage,it might last maybe 2-3 hrs for simple things such as playing a game with the worst graphics, taking calls or texting.I did almost every battery saving measure found on the internet to prevent this but nothing works. I did numerous soft resets and 2 hard resets which didnt work either. Also, for some days my battery app shows time remaining only around 16 hrs, earlier it showed 1 day 15 hrs(though it never went that long).Thinking it as a firmware issue, I reflashed it to an Indian firmware(IT HAD OMAN FIRMWARE EARLIER) but that didnt work either.
If I use it and it starts draining, it drains a little more after stopping usage before it becomes completely stable again or after usage if I reset my phone, around five percent battery is lost and it will stop draining if I dont use it(earlier it used to lose around 10 percent on a reboot).
Is it a bad battery straightaway? I suspect bad battery but I thought I would make sure before having to pay for the repair as I voided my warranty.
Thanks to anyone who helps.

Similar problems with my battery in my 920. I have it since two and a half months. Sometimes battery charge drops dramatically. Just today, it falls from 80% to 6% in 4-5 hours, and turned off. It happens ocassionaly, not daily. Not reliable if I want use my phone as alarm in the morning, I had this problem twice during night, obviously in stand-by mode when minor batt consume would be espected...
Major reset with customer service was made, twice. And problem persists. Clear for me that WP OS needs major fix as it's energy management is awful. Or do you think my battery has a phisical problem and needs to be changed?

If this issue continues and MS-Nokia doesn't offer a solution, I will left to other OS and manufacturer. Sad for me as I had only nokia in the past and I was a happy user... and that can influence in other potential buyers, hope MS-Nokia think about that.

Re: lumia 920 Battery Issues

For those of you who are seeing high battery drain is your phone warm at the top above the camera? If so, something is stuck on. I have found that most of the time a power off for 1 minute will fix this, usually for several days. I have also found that some apps I just back out of where as others I just use the home button and leave them running. I usually leave running any of the built in apps like email, texting/messaging, store, people hub, etc. Also, VsysCalendar 365, MetroMail, Pocket Bible, OneNote, and usually the WPCentral app seem to play nice. I exit the Facebook app, UDBrowser (though it probably is fine), Twitter, Amazing Weather HD, games and most other apps. When I am at home I switch to 2G only and WiFi. When I leave home I switch to Automatic (2G/3G/4G/LTE) and turn off WiFi. For the last several months the battery is at over 50% by the time it goes on my Qi charging plate 17+hours later. If I play games on it then battery life does shorten quite a bit.

I've been using MyBattery which gives a great graph of battery % where I can see what is going on with battery life. I just installed Battery Performance and it has some other features that MyBattery doesn't have like a consumption rate and an alarm if the consumption rate is over a particular rate. They might be worth purchasing to see what is going on.

Re: lumia 920 Battery Issues

@ gizmoEV: yes, I noted warm in camera area. As I have read in this and other spanish forums, my problem seens not unique. Also, is a sporadic fail. Restarting the phone fix it for a while... But days ir weeks after it reappears. A firmware bug in my opinion, but none my carrier nor Nokia can fix it, or even they haven't any idea what is wrong.
I use 'battery' app from Arthur Semenov or something like that, also offers graphics of battery behavior and alarm in case it is draining quickly.
At the end, no solution for this issue is in the way, I think, MS and Nokia denies or just are gaining time and in the while I'll have to learn to live with it... :/

Re: lumia 920 Battery Issues

Hopefully an update to WP 8.1 will fix things. Of course it could be a firmware issue, too. :(

Since Amber update, my phone heats less than before and also with Black update, I usually don't play games with it, I use messaging apps (whatsapp, twitter...), camera, navegation and other apps (wp central, sports apps..), when I turn off the phone and turn on again the battery increases to more than 50%, nowdays I turn it off until twice a day...I hope 8.1 solve this issue or I'll have to learn to live with it...there are greater problems!!!!

I told that already.
Now, don't insulate 4 pins, yust REMOVE wireless chrging module completely from the back of L920 and the thing is solved.

And while you're at it, don't forget to also disconnect the LCD screen! :)
