Battery life in this phone for me is a dissapointment, finally all comes down to how you use it, how many time you wanna use it and that, for me i have two "routines".

First one is when i'm off to univesity, unplugged the phone at 11AM when i'm leaving, 1.30H of music, 3G always on (we don't have LTE yet in Argentina), sending a couple of WhatsApp messages and a couple of tweets, then from 2PM to 5.15PM that i'm in class (changing 3G for WiFi) if i'm a little early (1.30PM) i play some Fruit Ninja or Bulley Asylum, like 10 minutes then i just send a couple of WhatsApp and nothing more, maybe i google something but nothing more than that, then it's music again for 1.30H or a bit more and like in the morning, couple of messages, tweets, maybe i look up some forums on Tapatalk, and thats one of my routines.

Battery stats: 6.30PM to 7.00PM that's the time when i get home the battery is almost drain out like 15 to 20% i really don't bother too much since i'm home, but if i text too much in the day or check twitter or even facebook that i don't do it like never, i get a little complicated in the travel back home, the battery stands for music the way home and nothing more cause a bit of use and it'll be gone.

And the other one is when i'm at work, like 11.30AM to 17.30AM, since we don't do much i'm with the phone a lot, whatsapp, twitter, check out forums with tapatalk, playing, etc., this is where the battery dies, in like 3 or 4 hours the battery is dead! It's not like a play Modern Combat 4 (to name a demanding game) with the sound too loud and 3G on, i do normal stuff, but it's the intensity of doing this regularly that kills the battery.

So hope this is clear enough to understand why i say that for me it's a dissapointment, last smartphone that i had was a RAZR i and damn! That surely is some good battery life, going to work when i most use the phone could get me to 11.30AM to 17.30M, playing, texting, tweeting, and all that stuff and still have like 40% of battery.

PD: I'm from Argentina so undersntad that my english is not that well.

After turning on automatic brightness my battery is actually doing really good. Is this a WP8 bug? My battery would drain on low brightness with everything else turned off and no background tasks. Now with automatic brightness, there is no drain. Glance screen turned on, lots of background tasks, lots of live tiles, GPS, NFC, etc.

Anybody know what may be the cause of this? I use my phone all day everyday. Texting, browsing, music, reading, gaming, etc.. Just one setting and my battery actually lasts the whole day. :/

My wife and I have both L920. With the exact same setting (NFC & bluetooth off, wi-fi connected, 2G), and exact same background processes with me having more; my battery discharge speed is %2.65 whereas my wife's is %3.6. How can this be possible???? What should I do to her phone???? (Mine is quite good, I get 2 days on 2G, always wi-fi @home and work). We both don't have amber, still waiting for OTA.

Hi Friends,

I purchased a new Nokia Lumia 920 on 25th Aug 2013 with in 2 days i display(Display Flickering) got failed and i given it to Nokia Care Center they sent it to Company for repair finally i got my device yesterday and display is working fine now.

while giving phone to Nokia Care Center i also pointed about battery back up, because it was giving only 9 to 12 hrs battery back up, they said they will ask company people to check.

When I received device battery level was 30% and I didn't charge immediately rather than allowed it completely drain out and then I charged my device battery fully.

This time I googled it and found some battery saving tips and followed exactly and it is better now. But still am unhappy with battery backup of this device.( because Nokia phones are very good in battery back up)

Now it is giving me an average of 16 to 20 hrs back up after following Battery saving tips, which is not good for 2000mAH battery.

Below is the my daily usage activity.
Voice Calls --- 1hr to 2hrs
Photos --- May take 5 to 10 snaps per day some times not even 1
Mobile Internet --- 30mins to 1hr per day.
Wi-Fi ---- If available then I will use it, in our office there is no W-Fi.
I will play game if am free not for too long time only for 30mins or max 1 hr

I followed the below battery saving tips.
Blocked all the background tasks, after blocking verified that no other services are running in the background.
Screen Brightness is set to low and disabled automatic adjustment.
Turned Off WiFi/Bluetooth/tap+send/location and am using this when ever I required.
Disabled automatic updates.
Touch Sensitivity is normal and glance screen is OFF.
Email syncing I have set it to 1hr.
Please suggest me if any this needs to be done to save the battery.

Just to know.
My friend has got Samsung Galaxy S3 he is regular user of Whats App & Facebook and always he will be on WiFi or 3G networks but still he manages to get more than 24hrs battery back up.
I even tested my NL 920 with S3(both charged to 100%) by doing nothing in both the phones for 6hrs, under Network selection I choosen 2G where as in S3 I selected 3G network during this time for 6hrs in my NL 920 reduced 90% where as S3 reduced to 4%.

Is windows OS consume more power, why this huge difference,,,,,,,,?

Please help me out in getting good Battery backup from my new Nokia Lumia 920.

Regards
Sunil

Re: lumia 920 Battery Issues

I started went to Ebay and bought an OEM Galaxy S4 charger and cable. Ever since then my L920 has been getting a 17-24 hours of medium to heavy use as opposed to the old 9-15 hours of medium to heavy use I used to get. I have two background apps going, I'm always on twitter, Facebook, 6tag, chive, tumblr, and playing Sims freeplay. Try switching your charger to the S4 charger, it should make a difference! Let me know how it works for you!

Now I'm getting 16 hours but I will try this method many people has said thas this has worked but I wonder if using the S4 charger could reduce our battery life expectancy since we're using higher ampers ?

I've been using the charger for about a week now and see such a dramatic increase in battery life I can use my WiFi almost all day and still have spare battery. Anywhere between 10-30% after 12+ hours off the charger.

The model number for the charger is ETA-U90JWE

They are only $8-12 on eBay or Amazon. It will change your battery life for the better. Everyday since I started using it I get better battery life. I have noticed it takes a little time to get better battery depending on how long you've had your phone. But it will get better.

I wonder if the s4 charger will have the same effect on the 928? Will that damage the battery....using a battery charger for the s4?

Re: lumia 920 Battery Issues

I bought Lumia 920 a few days ago. I've charged it 4 times so far. Two charges were from 0 to 100%. There is noticeable improvement after third and fourth charging. I use Battery Pro+ app. I was wondering what hourly consumption is normal? I think that when I use wifi or 3g data(3g is the fastest) it drains rapidly. If I leave 3g or wifi on, with bing news, bing weather and facebook working in the background, the hourly consumption rate is about 2-3%. However, if I start downloading apps or start web browsing or use facebook actively it starts draining battery a lot more, something like 3-4% in 5 minutes, though the battery pro+ does not show it so(I think the app is not working properly). Is this normal? I have everything switched off but wifi(nfc, bluetooth, location, xbox, brightness set to low, screen time out 30sec, sensitivity normal, battery saver when battery low...) Also, the phone gets warm(not hot) while browsing.

Some other observations:
I charge it in the evening, and leave it on during the night because of the alarm. I switch off everything including wifi and data. The battery still shows 100% charged in the morning after 8h so I guess there is no app draining the battery.
If I use photo apps it also starts draining battery a little more than usual.
No battery draining during phone calls and messaging.
I don't play games so I don't know how much they drain battery.

I don't have Amber. My firmware is 1232.5957.1308.0001. Carrier CV CZ-SK but I bought the phone in Serbia where I live.

I don't use my phone a lot and I can get through one day without charging it. Is this battery drain normal and how much should it be? What other app do you suggest for me to use to diagnose battery drains? Thank you

I hhighly doubt it. The 928 and 920 are very similar in specs. It wouldn't damage the battery unless you let it sit for a long time on the charger. If you watch it and take it off the charger once it is full for the first few times charging your phone, you should be okay. Just let the phone get use to the charger.

Battery apps update every 15-30 minutes. They drain your battery because it is one more app for the phone to run.
Charge your phone with your WiFi and data on. It conditions your phone when you do that. Also, because your phone is so new, you should give it a week or two before you start to see your real battery.
I actually started using the Galaxy S4 charger for my L920. If you go back a page you'll see my post. Check it out, it'll make your battery life last you a day or two easily because you aren't a heavy user like myself.
Also, if you so a soft reset, hold the volume down and lock button until your phone shuts off, then that will stop the major drainage. Good luck and let me know how things work.

Hi friends any update on my post,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,?

When I first got my 920 the battery would last for a couple of days with average use. However, since it has been updated the battery life has been reduced with more or less the same sort of usage. This tells me then that the problem is related to the OS rather than anything else.

I have now got myself a Lumia 1020 and given the 920 to my wife but before doing so I performed a full factory reset. It remains to be seen if this will improve battery life but it is usually a good idea to carry out a factory reset after a major device update if you happen to run into problems after the update.

I understand what a pain it is to have to set up your phone all over again but if it helps with battery life or some other problem you may have encountered, it's worth the extra time and effort with restoring your phone again.

What is the output current of the S4 charger in Amps please? I'm asking because I now have the 1020 which came with a 1.5 (1500 mAh) Amp charger as opposed to the 1 (1000 mAh) Amp charger that was supplied with the 920. However, they both have the same capacity battery at 2000 mAh (2 Amps). So, my understanding is that as long as the chargers output doesn't exceed the batteries capacity it shouldn't cause any damage.

The output for the charger is 5.0Volts or 2.0A.

The input is 100-240V 50-60Hz 0.35A(0.85A)

Model Number is ETA-U90JWS

Hi friends any update on my post,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,?

16 to 20hrs is more than enough for a daily use. And as for the test is concerned I have noticed that when you are on 2g your battery will consume more power as it is slow in downloading things in comparison with 3g so that is why your phone was draining quickly.

Thanks for the info. So it's a 2 Amp charger then, which is very powerful. I bet that it doesn't take very long to charge the battery on your phone then. Perfect for giving the battery a quick top-up before leaving the house.

Yeah, it's rather nice. I'm glad that I bought it. Made a big difference
