Lumia 920 battery - Your opinions

After Amber Update my phone battery drains by about 6-8% per hour on standby. Before Amber update, standby drain was just about 1% or less. My battery lasted for more than 24 hours. Now i have to charge it twice a day.

I put my L920 on airplane mode for 9 hours through out the night. It went from 100% to 45%. Anyone else think there if a MAJOR problem with that? It literally sat with no use the entire night.

That's not good at all. The battery should not drain hardly at all when the phone is set to flight mode. I would suggest that there was a background process stuck that caused that much of a drain

Hi, I've had the 920 since March. Battery life has been good (2-3 days with low useage) but Since updating to Amber I have seen a significant degradation in battery consumption. I am seeing a 15% drop in battery life overnight (9hrs) while in airplane mode. I've made sure location services are off, and that there are no open apps. I now need to recharge the phone every day. I hope there is another update to address this soon.

Hello ppl,

Is there an app in windows mobile which gives me %age wise breakup of which app is using how much of battery. I know a lot of apps in android which do this. Do we have something similar for the lumia 920?

I'm doing this test with my wife's 920 tonight. Her battery has been discharging at 15% a hour with no usage. Its ridiculous.

I also had this issue. I did a hard reset after amber, set my screen brightness to auto,a nod now my battery lasts the whole day with heavy usage.

I'm tempted to do that. Since you did your hard reset, did you install all apps that you had before? Also, you wrote that your battery lasts the whole day so my question is, is it been a long time since your hard reset? I'm asking that because when you do a hard reset and reinstall the apps, the first couple of days or week it fine but after a while it starts to drain again..

I bought Lumia 920 about 3 weeks ago and got Amber immediately, so for example if I play fruit ninja 1 round of arcade it drains 1-3 percent, if I browse 4chan /b/rowser with HSPA+ then it drains about 10percent in 20minutes, sad. my Lumia 800 did a better job at the same tasks.

No this is windows phone. You don't get analysis apps like that.

Both have the same battery capacity(2000mAH) so you arent going to benefit much unless the firmware is something special on 1020 for battery optimization. Either way, WP8 is a immature OS and has random battery drain issues as can be seen in this thread.

I have a 1020 and the battery is literally twice as good as the 920. I have gone 2 days with medium use. They are fixing the problems, it just takes time. The 1020 is one of those fixes.

Go with the 1020. I had a 920 and switched to the 1020. I used to go 1 day on my 920 (7:30AM to 10:30PM). Now with the 1020 I am going 2 full days on medium usage with 3 emails and 5 apps running. I also take about 2-5 pictures daily. You will not regret switching, I promise.

it's not though - as posted above they've got the same battery, so it's clearly how your phone is set up...
For example my is my 920 battery 3 times as good as yours? or 50% better than your 1020? No of course not, it's all about the settings and usage.

I have also gone from the 920 to the 1020 but battery life is exactly the same for me. Which you would expect seeing as though I'm running the exact same applications and use the phone for pretty much the same things.

However, I sort of hoped that battery life would be better on the 1020 simply because the AMOLED screen uses less power than the 920's LCD screen.
