Missing onscreen keyboard

I seem to be missing the 'standard' onscreen keyboard on m 2520... the option for this keyboard isnt highlighted when I tap the keyboard symbol in the bottom right. This had worked fine on my surface.

Do I need to enable it somewhere?

I don't think I understand. Any chance you could take a screen cap or two of what you mean?

If you go into settings/change PC settings/PC and devices/Typing, scroll down and there is a setting to turn add the standard keyboard to the touch keyboard options. It seems to be off by default.
