Nokia Camera Error

First time poster, long time reader...I usually don't use my camera on my 2520 but I have used before in a pinch. I was away on vacation when my phone died and needed to use my tablet to capture a moment....i go to open the app and I get an error message that the camera app is open already, but nothing else is running. Has anyone come across this? I've performed three hard resets and used app troubleshooter to no avail.
