Nokia Lumia Icon: Battery drain and phone running hot after Windows 8.1

I searched for the Nokia Recovery tool last night and downloaded it onto my computer. If you search in the forums you can find the link to it, there's a whole thread about it I believe but I'm not savvy enough to know how to add a link.... (i'm a book nerd not a computer nerd)

For those of you with battery issues, I haven't updated 8.1 yet, but I believe I found the issue, and I think it does have to do with the battery saver application.

Disable Cortana. After all kinds of configuration shenanigans I finally killed her off, and instantly the problems with endless sync and battery drain were resolved.
