I was at Radio Shack last night when I overheard the salesman telling a customer that the phone he picked out was not a "regular" phone called a Windows Phone and is nothing like an Android Phone. The customer replied in a very thick Indian accent that he wanted a Windows Phone because that is what most people in India use.

Windows phone is much more popular in emerging markets. MS and Nokia arrived late to the party here in the U.S. too many isheep and android snowflakes here. Once I grew the cojones to be different and give Nokia Lumia a try, I never looked back. Went from 822 to 928 and finally an Icon

WP is quiet popular in India and I know a lot of people using it . In fact I myself pursued around 3 people to move from Android to WP . And they seem to be satisfied with it .

Me moved from htc one x , htc one , 1020 and 1520. Currently using 1520 and 1020 as spare.

Presented my gf with 925 and my uncle with 525.

Going to present my mom a 630.

Windows phone succeed in India becoz it is being used by Nokia.

I had a friend in a class with a 521, she was on Portico! (the horror!) So I got her an SD and fixed up everything.

I have three acquaintances with 521's, a friend who used to have one. I saw a couple 920's in my school. Friend's mom has a 920.
Someone lost a 521 a few months ago, it was posted around a bit.
I was crossing the street and this car turns in front of me, the passenger had a 521 in plain view.

My sister has a 521, almost sold my other sister on a 925, but she needed a special medical related app. She hasn't gotten a new phone though.

Haven't seen any 520's or higher end ones like the Icon and 1520 in person yet oddly.

I have not seen anyone with Windows Phone only android, when I was trying to decide which smartphone to buy for my first time, one of my friends tried to convince me to buy one, but in the end I went with the Nokia Lumia 520 Go-phone (AT & T) wish cost me $ 59.16 on Amazon.

My wife quickly jumped on board after having to deal with so much instability within Android. She's a farm girl with almost none of my technical background so Android was REALLY frustrating for her. She'd been eyeballing Windows Phone since I had the 1020 and made the jump after having general Android unreliability put her in one too many stressful situations.

My bro recently made the switch too... mostly to deal with less memory management and force closes. My dad is interested, but there's simply nothing worthwhile being offered that works with Virgin Mobile USA or Boost Mobile. Microsoft is missing out on a lot by having absolutely nothing to offer either of those networks.

I see a LOT of Lumia 520's in the wild, but they are mostly my clients or people I pass by on college campus... not actually people I know. I'll see a 1020, HTC 8X, Huawei Ascend, 928 or a fellow 1520 every now and then, but it's mostly 520s.

I saw what looked to be a Lumia 520/521 that a young man had on the plane in the seat in front of me. I don't see many Windows Phones in the wild, but then again I don't really look to see what phones people have either.
