[Official] Initial thoughts on Developer Preview of WP8.1

Re: My detailed list of issues with the 8.1 DP

I didn't have many apps installed and I had disallowed various apps. I think the Icon is suffering the worst from the 8.1 DP.

Re: My detailed list of issues with the 8.1 DP

Unlike updates that are released to the public the 8.1 preview for developers is not a complete update for the phone. This may be why you see these problems.
The terms at App Studio to install the Preview for Developers update included this:
"A preview update only includes the Microsoft portion of the update; mobile operator and OEM driver updates will be available when the official update for your phone is available."

Re: 8.1 Developer preview

I have an Icon and 8.1 dp heated up my phone and drained my battery to fast. It seems that there are people with other models that do not have the problems I had. I went back 8.0 using this tool.Support - - Nokia - USA

Re: My detailed list of issues with the 8.1 DP

I loved 8.1 and cannot wait for the final version. I'm sure the issues I had with my Icon will be fixed.

Re: My detailed list of issues with the 8.1 DP

I've had a number of issues as well. More so now that I've been using it for a couple weeks.

I also have to wait 3-4 seconds to wake, and sometimes I get a "loading" screen when I try to unlock that either goes away after 5-6 seconds or crashes the phone and requires a soft reset.

Re: Initial thoughts on Developer Preview of WP8.1

I personally found the experience to be great except for couple of things.. the Music player XBox music has become slow compared to earlier version.. and the Battery is draining hell a lot quickly than in wp8.. i was thinking may be this is due to the apps not optimized for WP8.1.. Looks like a bug Microsoft... overall a good update...Last but not least to mention Heating Issue.. Phone is Heating especially near the rear Camera.. :(

Same thing happened to me with the heating up by the camera. Disabling location services seemed to help.

Facebook is not showing in action centre.. Facebook app by microsoft is installed..

Coming from android I bought a used 822 and upgraded to 8.1 to see if I should switch or take Verizon's buy one get one free S5. I will be sticking with WP!

All hubs are now completely useless

What is the point of the Me hub now If when updating a status or checking in, I have to open the service specific app (Facebook, twitter, etc)? They also removed centralized notifications from the people hub I guess because of the new "Notification Center"? I hadn't really used the photo hub much but from what I've read that has it's own set of issues now too, and now the centralized messaging app is now just another sms/mms app.
The nicest thing I liked about my win phone 8 was the tight integration of it all and how easy and simple tasks were, but now with 8.1 it seems like they caved to the developer community and went with a more app-centric approach to the OS? Personally I'd rather have fewer quality apps and a integrated, smooth operating device than a mobile platform for inferior apps to be built.
I'm hoping MS changes this in a future release because gaining Cortana and the notification center are not worth sacrificing the functionality of the hubs.

Re: i got the preview 8.1 in my lumia in the future if get released the definitive version without b

You already have it. So when it's released by whomever your carrier is, you'll just get Lumia cyan.

I have a problem with the Glance Screen it's a small issue. I have a Lumia 920 and the glance screen works good, but a little too good. I noticed that when I get the notification that is associated with my Facebook or outlook i.e. upcoming birthday, it shows up as scheduled. The problem is, after the day of their birthday, it doesn't go away. According to my phone, it's their birthday the following day again. It stays there until I powercycle my phone off then back on. It is gone after that. But once another birthday comes around, it does the same thing again. Is it an issue with 8.1DP on 920's or do I maybe have to re-install just the Glance app again, if it's even possible. If not, I can always wait for the official updates and all.

There is a noise after each track of my music since the 8.1 update. I thought it was the Xbox music app but the update did not fix it and then I tried the old music hub with the new shortcut app and that does it too. It's the same as in the Melodia app. For more information see the "New Xbox music app for 8.1. Split second sound between tracks. Update did not fix" post in the forums. I am not alone in this issue.

My phone crashed and I had to force a reset about 5 times today while listening to music in the Xbox music app today. This happened in about a 2 hour span.

Cortana needs a high quality voice when speaking over Bluetooth in the car. It sounds low budget when hearing the voice in what sound like AM radio quality.

I disagree. Sounds like you have low quality bt in your vehicle.
