PC won't detect Nokia Lumia 1020 with any other USB other than original?

Hi, i'm just wondering, is there anyway to make it so my PC can detect my lumia 1020 so I can move files off/on my phone without the original USB?

The original USB is damaged and doesn't reliably connect/charge and I was wondering if there was anyway for another usb to connect my phone to my PC, or does it have to be the one that came with my phone?

If it is the latter, is there anyway to order another one, or am I S.O.L.?

I used a Belkin USB cable that lights up when charging. Worked fine with mine. Get them at Walmart for 20 bucks.
