Please provide your feedback on all IE issues (desktop/mobile/modern-metro)

I am going to be doing a Skype chat with James and one of the tech staff members next week about all of the IE issues with this site.

Please provide me with any and all bugs you are noticing with any version of IE (please mention which version of IE and which device).

If you have screenshots that will be even more helpful.

We want to get the IE bugs sorted, and I appreciate your help in doing so. :smile:

When you're moving a thread, in the moving screen I often get a huge block of grey in the middle where the thread content should be and then you have to scroll down to the bottom to see the move box.

Also, the "Reveal News" pink arrow I think should be aligned to the outer right white edge of the forum, not where it currently is.

I can only comment on desktop IE11 running on W8.1 (possibly important as behaviour differs when IE11 is installed on W7), as I don't use anything else for moderating WPC.

My only issue is that I'm regularly required to log out, delete the browsing history (most likely it's the cookies causing issues) and then log back in to get to the PP ban tools.

I've also witnessed the PP ban tool itself not carrying out the ban if I don't delete IE11 browsing history first.

In IE11 for Windows Phone 8.1, the fonts are tiny in their default setting.

When I pinch to zoom, word wrap is broken, which makes modding via mobile a real PITA. Modding via mobile is sometimes necessary if no mods are online on desktop PCs.

In desktop IE11, I am missing the entire bottom row in the profile popup.


Notice the difference compared to what I see in Firefox Nightly.

On desktop in Firefox 30.0 all I see is below:

No tools on the profile pop-up

In IE11 I don't even get the profile pop-up at all.
Heck my like button doesn't seem to work in IE either.

Windows 8.1 fully up to date.

Having just said that, the Surface 2 my girlfriend has doesn't show the second row of options on that popup.

Checked to see if things were working on the RT I have and I still can't see everything on the pop-up.

I'm also running Windows 8.1 Update 1 (x64, not RT). I don't see the second row of options and I never have with any version of Windows/IE.

Could you folks all delete everything in your cache (except passwords) and see if we all have the same behaviour then?

Another thing, although likely not related to IE, is that the canned replies don't retain line feeds. Every time I move a thread or post to the "developer spotlight" forum, I must reformat the canned reply. Not a huge issue, but bothersome nevertheless.

Are you using tracking protection lists and ad block?

I am, since popup blocker in IE is abysmal.

Could tracking protection and ad block be the reason that I miss the second row in profile popup?

I signed out, deleted cache, closed IE, reopened IE, signed in, and I still don't see the second row of mod tools in the profile popup.

The wife has a pristine W8.1 notebook maybe it will work on that one.

Checked my Win7 notebook and still no tools on the pop-up on any browser there either.
Maybe rolling back to IE10 on desktop pc will work.

I don't think I ever saw the second row in any version of desktop IE. I think I installed Windows 8 around the same time I became a mod or shortly thereafter. I don't remember if I ever modded using Windows 7, but IE10 was new to Windows 8, and I never saw that bottom row. That was on a different PC than the one I'm using currently. I know I didn't use tracking protection lists initially on IE10 on that PC, and it made no difference in seeing the bottom row.
