I actually never knew about Windows Phone until the Surface RT was announced. I saw that Microsoft, like Apple, offered their services all platforms (phone, TV, PC, etc). Now, at this time I had an iPod Touch so I needed to choose between jumping ship from Apple or staying. Since wanted a tablet, the Surface RT seemed like the better pick for school (Office wasn't on iOS yet). I couldn't get myself a phone since I didn't have a job in highschool, but I followed Windows Phone Central reading about these cool looking phones that I really wanted to try using. For me, live-tiles were a game-change, and I couldn't wait until I could get one. Unfortunately, I live in Canada so a LOT of the phones I'd read about were not available for me. By the time I finished highschool and got a job, the Lumia 950 was just released and I've been holding onto that since. Hoping my wait to join the party won't end in disappointment.

I haven't been here very long. In fact before I had a Windows phone, I made fun of it a lot. Then last year, I got a Lumia 640 and I was hooked. Then this February I got a Lumia 1520. Now I'm just waiting to see what's said at Build so I can decide whether to stay out leave wp.

All my phones I have ever owned have been Windows Phones, since 2013 it's been:

Nokia Lumia 520>Microsoft Lumia 640>Nokia Lumia 930>Microsoft Lumia 950>Microsoft Lumia 950 XL. Question is: Will my next phone be an Android or can I still stick with Microsoft?

This journy of using WP was pleasing but not without frustrations due to many inconveniences.

My WP history: L620>L640XL LTE>L950XL

All three are working fine. All three phones were used in Windows Insider (Fast Ring) program. None bricked.

Lumia 710 > Lumia 920 > Lumia 520 > Lumia 1020> Lumia 1520 x2 (white and red) > Lumia 830 > Lumia 530 > Lumia 430 > Lumia 630 > Lumia 640 > HTC One M8 for Windows > Lumia 950 > Lumia 950XL

I still own the:
Lumia 640
Lumia 1020
Lumia 830
Lumia 1520 (white)
HTC One M8 for Windows
Lumia 950
Lumia 950XL

I use my Lumia 950XL and Continuum daily, even typing this reply via Continuum.

I would like to get an HP Elite X3 or at least a Alcatel Idol 4S for Windows to have the added CPU and GPU power/battery efficiency of the Snapdragon 820.

Personal: Lumia 800 > Lumia 520 > Lumia 830 > Lumia 930 > Lumia 950

Work: Lumia 630 > Lumia 640xl

And now iPhone

The 930 was my favourite but 520 deserves a mention, that was a hell of a phone for £99 and Windows Phone 8 absolutely flew on it.

I'm due an upgrade at the end of the year I can't see Microsoft turning it around by then. I wish they would just explain what's going on.

Lumia 1520 > Lumia 640 > Lumia 950 > Lumia 640 > Lumia 950 > OnePlus 3T
I went from various "world phones" to finally a few iPhones, then hopped on ship with a 1520. Loved the size and the camera. Then I started getting phantom touches and eventually the screen shattered so I got a 640 to replace it because it was $30. Used that until I was tired of the slow processor and bought a 950. Definitely bought that phone way too early. It was NOT ready for consumer use yet. Had that for a while, cracked that screen, bought another 640 because I gave my old one away to a friend who needed a replacement phone, then eventually got my 950 fixed. I've been using it now for about a year straight and I'm just finally fed up with the stress from constant app crashes, freezes, and in general things that just don't work. I picked up a OnePlus 3T because I've read that its OS is as smooth as butter and hardly ever stutters. I'll see how I like it when it gets here this week.

Prior to cellular, the dream kicked off at work in the late 90's with CE 2 on my NEC MobilePro and at work with the first iPaq. Then in 2005 they let us purchase HP iPaqs 6315 with Windows Mobile 2003 PocketPC Phone Edition.
For personal windows phones, in 2009 I purchased an HTC Touch Pro2 Windows 6.5 Pro, 2010 HTC Surround with Windows 7, 2013 we purchased Lumia 520's for the whole family, 2014 my wife and I got Lumia 1020 and from the beginning of 2016 until now, my wife got a 640 and for myself, a Lumia 950.
Back in December Microsoft Store had a fire sale on 650's so we purchased spares for the kids and so I can run Insider rings.

Thought it'd be fun to share our Windows Phone histories with one another. Doing so is simple, just follow the format I use below:

Example: Dell Venue Pro > Nokia Lumia 510 > HTC 8XT > Nokia Lumia 822 > Alcatel One Touch Pixi 3 > Microsoft Lumia 950 XL > HP Elite X3

(my personal history is a lot shorter!) lol

What's your WP history!?

Nokia Lumia 720 > Nokia Lumia 730 > Microsoft Lumia 950

Sprint HTC Arrive -> Verizon Lumia 928 -> Verizon Lumia Icon.

I'd love to go to the Elite x3, but it won't run on Verizon and there are no GSM towers in this part of the world.
