I know in the past, technical previews has always required a complete recovery to get to the final release. Does anyone know if this Technical Preview will be the same? Since I plan to install this on my daily driver (SP3) my main concern is just that I don't want to lose any data. Bugs aren't a big deal, it's just a hassle to manually copy data after a recovery if you don't have to.

Second question: How easy is it to do a recovery to 8.1 in case there is some serious issue that requires me to roll back? I'm not locked out of 8.1 am I?

1. I've heard that the Preview will transition to the final release, but no "smoking-gun it-will-happen" kind of guarantee yet, from what I've seen.

2. I believe, that as long as the recovery is intact, whether on the device or on a drive, it should be all you need.
If you want something like an easy Ctrl+Z to your pre-10 state, then making an image backup of your Surface with a tool like Reflect might be the ticket.
