Have you tried restarting the machine?

I was facing same problem, and resolved it when I restarted my laptop.

Hope, this will help.

am having the problem from past few days, so i restarted it many times with ALT+F4 since start button is not working

I have the same problem, and restarting didn't help. But today, setting app opened. So, I am downloading updates to the preview build, hopefully it will fix some issues

Familiar issue here too. Gave this info to the feedback app. On my surface pro, start and search/cortana are buggy. I can apparantly only use search with some tries of the search button on the taskbar in desktop mode. It does not work when I'm in tablet mode in the start screen/menu. odd behaviors.

I downloaded the ISO file and reinstalled the OS.
Everything is fine now, though I wasted a lot of data

Has anyone been able to remedy this without re-installing the TP? I've rolled back about 5-6 times now to 9879 so I could have the Start menu (button) work correctly. I've even tried the registry key EnableXamIStartMenu and nada. Even with the Updates set to Notify only, this update still gets installed regardless. I don't have the time currently to reload all my apps

Same problem for me Start menu and cortona not working...Any one have solution? I edited registry but got old look start menu which is so weird to see!!!

Maybe its a time bomb in Windows 10 to force users into another version or build :) It started on mine as well... :(

Dear All

I had the same problem on my Acer Tablet. It is due to the resolution of the screen. Changed the resolution to the highest possible and it is working well now.

As it is a Technical Preview, all the drivers are not installed automatically. Go to device manager and update your display driver. That should help.

Hi,
After reinstall I got everything back. Start menu, cortona and Notification panel working fine. If you done System restore this problem will occur. No proper solution for this problem from Microsoft.

Reinstall only handy solution now.

I've been having the Notification Panel issue for a while, but the update today seems to have fixed it. Notification panel on my SP3 is flying out like a champ!

10130 is crap. windows button not working so I revert back to 10122 and I got the same problem, search and spartan not working.

I can't get into my settings

Anyone knows how to get into settings without the start page????????????????????

The issue with "flyouts" not responding is supposed to be fixed with the June update for technical preview that was just released.

I add myself to the list of ppl with problems. Mine currently started yesterday afternoon after an audio crash and are :

- Can't launch or open pages with internet explorer (yes, I use it as my main browser)
- chrome launches but is unable to connect to any network or internet site (tried even the router config page with no success)
- cortana/search won't work, I can type words but nothing happens
- start menu and app links are fine
- teamviewer which I run on startup won't launch while steam, also on startup, launches with no problems
- can't open task manager to see what's going on, third party process explorer works though and won't show any strange process or resource usage
- can't use any of the amministrative tools, tried event viewer to check logs and the explorer window just freezes

everything works fine though in safe mode
