This is great. Finally received my Bluetooth keyboard in the mail and I can now hide my surface 2 away! So what i have going is a 24" hd tv with a micro hdmi cord to connect to my surface. It is plugged in and hidden with my Logitech wireless mouse and a Perixx Bluetooth keyboard. I finally have a semi pc setup :D So anyone else rocking something like me?

Check!

I often connect my Surface 2 to my 24" display for surfing/basic pc usage. Sometimes I will play games with this setup (lately Blitz Brigade with my Xbox 360 controller). Waiting for Modern Combat 5 to check it out...

Very often I will connect my Surface 2 to my 42" hd tv to watch netflix. Once I even played Pokemon on my tv :D (GameBoy Advance emulator)

Really love the possibilites the Surface has... SO much more than just a tablet...

I needed a machine to have for work that had word and internet capabilities. Not enough for a full blown pc, so I thought why not a plain old surface, and its more than just plain. It functions just like a full windows computer, yet is so versatile and usable. People knock on rt so much but the fact is that they dont appreciate something that isnt "top of the line" and has "all the specs and more"

true...true...

there are so many things one could list which are normally unique for pcs and are not really possible in the tablet world, yet the surface manages them.

The only issue I have (sometimes) are minor bugs reaccuring when I use my S2 as a "PC" with all these small "extra things". For example: quite often my Surface will not change the size settings after I pull out the HDMI cable which connected it to my tv. So all the size settings (text, ui and so on) stay the same they were on my tv. That means: because of the much larger display (and the S2 knowing that) the whole ui is made smaller and finer. On the TV that is just awesome... but on the S2 way to small. The issue is: you can not really change the settings back. After some time the S2 will finally change them by itself, but there is no pattern how/when it will do that. At least not yet :D

But there is a simple trick: just enable the option "project on pc desktop only" (translated it from German) in the projection settings first and THEN remove the cable: bam! Everything works like a charm!

I have the feeling that our S2s can so much, that the system is sometimes overwhelmed and just gets a bit buggy. But as already said: no big deal and still a very, very smooth OS!

The weird thing is that my suface only plugs into the tv on my desk and not in the living room or bedroom. It might be because the tv at my desk was purchased most recently, and the other two just need firmware updates and then it will work. But im using an hdmi port, that only transfers audio and video, it doesnt tell the tv that the signals are coming from a surface...

hmm. Did you try any other ways of connecting it to your TV in the living room/bedroom?

I was able to connect mine through HDMI to my TV and through a hdmi/vga adapter to my external desktops. Maybe VGA or DVI could work for your older TVs?

Good luck!
