Hi

I'm in the market for a Windows tablet and there's currently a deal going on. The Surface 3 4gb is now selling for the price of the 2gb version.

But is it still worth it? I'm afraid the Surface 4 will launch quite soon.

Thanks!

I just returned Surface 3 after almost three months and a variety of problems. MS customer service is some of the worst I have come across. So much so I wouldn't own another of their products even though I continue with their OS. Last week I picked up a Lenovo Yoga 700 11ISK. It isn't technically a tablet but I like it a lot better than the S3. Lightweight, better keyboard, bigger screen. Screen resolution, ram and SSD instead of emmc.

We love our two surface 3s. both are 64gb/4gb models. They are fast, efficient, and great devices. Dock them, you have a full blown computer, with the type cover you have a full notebook, and with the cover off, and switched in tablet mode (which is more than just metro style start menu) you have the best tablet on the market. Its great!

Yes, its worth it. I use mine everyday. Great device.

I use my Surface 3 as a travel / holiday companion to my surface pro 4 (it was bought for this use). I won't spend money buying any serious computer for Windows 10 with only 2GB..4GB is the minimum. The Surface 3 isn't as slick and fast as the Pro 4, but I love the fact it is a low powered machine with no fan or heat and it can be charged via a micro USB. That said, it will do everything the Pro 4 does, including video compression and editing, just more slowly.

I don't find my s3 slow at all. I find it very speedy. Now, I am comparing it to my last windows tablet which was a asus vivotab RT LTE. Not the screamer. But even running RT it was slowwwwwwwww. The surface 3 is a perfect compromise of everything.

I don't think a new surface is going to launch anytime soon because the atom chip they most likely would have used in it has been delayed by Intel. I just picked up a 128GB lte model with all the accessories except the dock for under $700 on eBay and it fits my needs almost perfect (would've loved to have this in a 8inch form factor). To me its still the best sub-11inch device. I have a dell venue 8 pro 5000 and wish the new one had better reviews as I would've went for that in a heartbeat, but they put a slightly slower processor than what the S3 has so I wouldn't waste my time. I also heard it still has the same issues with the wifi adapter failing, sometimes even more than the 5000. So depending on your needs, I would say yes.

I'm in the same boat, I spent 4 months buying up every new 8 inch windows tablet (4 of them) only to return them all cause they were all buggy crap.

I ended up getting a Surface 3 4GB ram 128GB drive version on amazon for $450 and really like it. If it were an 8 inch version exactly the same it would be the perfect tablet but at least the Surface 3 actually works unlike all the new cherrytrail 8 inch windows tablets.

I just hope MS finally delivers a Surface mini and it is simply a Surface 3 exactly the same just shrunk down to 8 inches.

Yeah, I love our surface 3s. We use them all the time. My wife is still on w8.1, but I am on 10 which I find awesome now that I have been using it for awhile. I used hers the other day and 8.1 is not for me anymore. same with w10m. I am on the new system and LOVE IT.
