T-Mobile accepting broken phones for ETF payment

Not sure if everyone already knows this, but it looks like tmobile is accepting broken phones, and will still pay out the ETF (up to $350) remaining from your other carrier. Only difference is that they won't give you any money for your trade in, which makes perfect sense. I'm pretty sure when this promotion started, they said no broken phones. Not sure why they changed, or why it wasn't advertised...here's the link:

how long is this ETF deal good for? I just hoped on verizon 2 months ago. maybe ill wait till TMO picks up a new MS phone

According to T-Mo, this will be how it is for the foreseeable future. Not a special promotion.
