Tether-x?

Has anyone tried this app for tethering to a 928? I miss how I used to be able to wireless tether to my Trophy and use the unlimited data plan. I don't do it alot, but nice to know I have it when I need. I hate how Vzw charges separately for this ability even if you have the unlimited data plan. Thanks in advance all!

I'd like to know the same thing... I have unlimited data but this phone won't let me tether without a special tethering plan!

Does this program allow us to use our unlimited data on the phone to tether?

I have unlimited data and tried the app about 1 1/2 -2 months ago, it worked perfectly if the directions are followed.

I don't feel comfortable with that or even fully know how.

Not sure. This question was specifically for the 928.

When I had a 928 the app did work but was SLOW AS SIN!. It will only allow browser usage. Don't expect to use apps or gaming consoles or anything without the tethering plan from Verizon. (Unlimited data plan users only)

That is not true. Windows RT tables can create hosted networks and your phone can connect to it. The app works just fine if you follow the instructions.

For slow speed issue please reboot the phone first. It really helps.

In order to let other apps to connect internet via proxy 'proxifier' is a great program that runs on PC and let all apps to connect internet.

not sure why this is posted in the 928 thread. I own both a Lumia 920 and a Windows RT 64Gb. I used TetherX successfully. I created a batch file on the desktop that starts the hostednetwork. I did more than just browsing and downloaded larger files from emails fine. Works great for me at work where WiFi available is blocked.
asleroid, unfortunately for the Surface RT, not all applications like Virtual Router Manager that work on PCs work here.

I may be misunderstanding this, but I tether my iPad to my Lumia 928 wirelessly without any app when I'm out and a wireless network is not available. I just go to Settings > Internet Sharing. There are no extra charges, unless, of course, I went over our data allowance. We have the Share Everything plan.

Yeah, if you have the right plan (>= 5gb) you do not need tether-x. I only have a 3gb plan and need tether-x to tether.

For those of you who have unlimited data on VZW and only tether "occasionally" you should know the hotspot "feature" can be activated and deactivated on a pro rata daily basis. Use the VZW app or you can do it on the web. A day of use is a buck. Not the most convenient granted, but a good deal if you only need it for a short time.
