. I'm determined not to get irritated by a slow roll out but bought brand new L1520 from Amazon UK 2 weeks ago . No indication that it was not a uk model but turned out to be HK phone. If the update for HK doesn't begin soon I am going to assume there is a problem and send the phone back. Not gonna risk being stuck with a phone that doesn't get updates. Getting annoyed now..... shouldn't cause it's just a stupid phone but I am. Just get on with it.

The alternative is to flash the UK ROM on it if you're comfortable with the procedure. But that's the caveat of some of the cheaper 1520s on Amazon.

With the whole roll-out schedule, i'm confused by one thing, if someone can help me out.
I have the Lumia 620 I bought in the UK, it's unlocked, doesn't show any network branding, basically looks and feels like a sim-free phone. Now i'm using it in Spain.
So my point of confusion is...for the WP8.1 update, am i waiting on the original network to approve it for my phone (from the UK) or is it down to the Spanish network to approve it? Or since it's unlocked, i am not relying on the network but rather MS/Nokia directly?
And basically same scenario with my wife's phone: HTC 8X from Verizon (US) but it's unlocked (bought like that), being used in Spain. Will she need to wait for Verizon to approve it or it's down to the Spanish network?
Thanks!

That question has to be on this thread at least a hundred times, and a hundred times the answer has been "no, it's not available for the 520 anywhere yet", with the exception of in France on Orange.

My 820 was bought sim-free from Amazon and turns out to be Middle East (ending in 1002). I'd rather not mess with it even though it is out of warranty (partly due to having been dropped down a (clean) loo! - A bag of rice did the trick though, and it works perfectly)

Well that is because of all WP owners, the largest percent of them OWN 520s/521s. So that question will keep coming for a looooooong time till they push cyan for them finally. xD

Both are carrier branded phones hence updates are still tied to when the original carriers release the update.

Factory unlocked or unlocked from another network?

If factory, then you're not at the mercy of network schedules no matter where you are and which SIM you are using.

Asked yesterday from Saunalahti(finnish carrier) at Twitter about the 8.1 update and when will the next Lumia device get the update. They promised to ask about it and get back to me. This is the answer today they got:
"Saunalahti Aspa ‏@Saunalahti_aspa 5 min
Tulevat l?hiviikkoina. Seuraavina laitteina n?ill? n?kymin Lumia1020, sitten 920:sta alasp?in. -Mari"

And same in english:
"Saunalahti Aspa ‏@Saunalahti_aspa 5 min
Coming in near weeks. Next one is 1020 and going down from it next being 920. -Mari"
UP: keep those "when I get it" messages in minimum maybe :)

What's galling me is that as a casual gamer, every time I turn my xbox 360 on I have to wait an age for the latest update to download. But for windows phone they can't organize a roll out.
To coin a phrase - **** up in a brewery.
